what can i do if i got a D twice in one class

Hello, i have a quick question, i got a W in the first time and when i retake the second time i got a D then the third time i retake the class (which is the last chance) i still got a D and professor does not give me a better grade. But this class is not a major requirement class. So what can i do in the situation or nothing i can do? will this D affect me can not get into any UCs?

It’s a GPA killer. Suck it up and focus and get an A.

You could get academic renewal, which restore your gpa partially; however, the grade would still be on your transcripts.

Academic renewal isn’t partial, it’s completely renewed and will show up as AR on your transcript, from my understanding. So yes, it’s a great option. Good luck! :)

I forgot what the limit was. I think it’s 3? You can fail/withdraw a class 3 times before not being allowed to retake it within that district.

So, if you happen to fail a class 3 times at SMC, you’d have to find another CC somewhere in Long Beach, Santa Ana, Riverside, etc to take it again and pray it transfers back to your home institution.

I was on the brink of having to go to another district because I failed in and withdrawed from Biology 1 Lab.

@BurntCorpse‌ but i asked a counselor today and he said if i take it at other college the letter grade D will still on the transcript, won’t cancel or replace it. So do you still think I better take it at other cc?

Try taking it again at your CC and as pass/no pass if it’s a non prereq/english/math

@cherrylee126‌

If you can’t, you’re stuck with the D, so don’t bother retaking it at another CC since it doesn’t replace it. The best course of action would be getting the best grades from here on out. Nothing much else you can do unless you want to get an academic renewal.

Are you adverse to academic renewal or something? It’s the obvious choice, unless I missed something?

@fullload AR isn’t automatic. At most schools a certain number of years must have passes and or X units must have completed after the negative grade. Some schools also don’t let you Renew 1 grade, they might negate the entire semester.

I don’t know the requirements for the OP’s school, but AR isn’t always feasible.

Yeah, you’re right, forgot about the other variables. Just wasn’t sure why AR wasn’t being acknowledged at all. :)

If you take it P/NP it will still be a D. They always take the last letter grade, even if a P/NP came after.
