What can I do now that I've taken one accounting course (Financial Accounting)?

I want an internship for the summer yet have only taken a 3 credit financial accounting course. I will be taking principles of accounting 2 (managerial accounting) over the summer.

Can I get anything better than an accounting clerk / bookkeeping job for the summer?

I'll be a junior this comming fall and go to an AACSB accredited business school. GPA is 3.5 and I got all A's in my accounting class. I just found I LOVE accounting. Debits and Credits, it just so logical.

Thanks!

In my experience, your options are still going to be pretty limited with just one accounting course. I had an interview for an internship with BDO, and the guy told me that he would prefer to see more advanced courses, or at lease Intermediate accounting I. Im not saying it’s impossible, but it will definitely be a challenge to beat out some of the other applicants with more advanced coursework, at least for the accounting firm positions. However, I was able to to land an internal audit internship my sophomore year. This was after I had completed both of the intro accounting courses. If you apply for anything, try to play up any other courses you may have taken.

Good luck!

If I can’t find an internship, is a bookkeeping good job to get me started?

Or should I just try to find the highest paying job that I want (which may not be related to accounting)?

Just find a good job imo, book keeping might be helpful since it’s related

Take another.

Take another?

I guess my question now is: How beneficial is a bookkeeping / accounting clerk job when I’m searching for a real internship?

Thanks again
