what can i do to increase my chances?

Hi all i was recently defered from fsu and wanted to know what i could to do to help my chances. I had a 3.5 fsu unweighted gpa and 1350 on my sat and 29 act. I run track and cross country. I'm on student council, head of prom comittee and have tons of other ec's. What can i send the admissions office to prove that i really want to go there?

A personal meeting with admissions may help.

You were deferred? When did you apply?

Those are great numbers so I'm a little puzzled...

yeahhh i don't understand why you got deferred, either. you should definitely meet with some admissions people face to face and sit down and let them get to know you.

Perhaps there was some mistake. Contact admissions and make sure they have all the correct information for you. I would ask them what you can work on to go from deferred to accepted.

Thank you for your advice, I will try to get a hold of the admissions office. I guess they were looking for guys this year to admit because I thought I would get in for sure, or maybe its the economy..being a state school and all. It's my number one school and I guess I really need to let them know how much I want to go there.

Are you a FL resident?
Yeah, I'm a bit confused as to why you didn't get in as well. You didn't have any disciplinary charges or anything like that did you? I would definitely try to meet with a counselor when you can get up here and show them that you are really interested.

OOS or instate? What is your FSU GPA? FSU uses only the core academic courses in their GPA calculation. When you call, ask them what they got for your GPA. It can be a surprise to find it is not as high as you tought. DId you have any D's? C's in core classes? Definately call and ask to review your file with them. Just calling with concern shows you are interested and motivated.

there was a mess up! the admissions officer i talked to was really nice, my standardized test scores got mixed up, it said i got somewhere in the 900s for my sat. she said once they reviewed it over again i would for sure get in, so im really really relieved!!

wow - that is wonderful news! Congratulations gez.

yayy i'm so happy for you! :]

Now I'm curious as to how they made that mistake.

Congrats, though!

GREAT!!! See, calling made all the difference in the world. When something doesn't make sense, when you want something bad enough, call and start the ball rolling.

I agree - congrats! Following up makes a lot of difference.
