What can I do to?

Hi,

I'm currently a sophmore and I was wondering what I could do to improve my chances of getting into stanford (or other top colleges in general).

I'm Asian, (Korean), and I moved to the US from S korea when I was 6 years old. I live in NH. Currently I am a permanent residant of the US and a citizen of south korea. I can speak both launguages fluently.

I attend Phillips Exeter Academy, and my GPA is an A- right now. (Our school does GPA out of 11, not 5, so I have a ten right now.) But I think i can boost that to about a 10.5 by senior year.

I took the PSAT this year, (my sophmore year) and got in the 99% percentile.
I recieved 71 in critical reading, 73 in math, and 70 in writing skills. Next year i'll probably do better.

My freshmen year, I took physics, and got into the accelerated physics (we covered more stuff, it wasnt ap). This year I took Bio, and also AP computer programming. Next year I will be doing accelerated chemistry (which is high school chem and AP chem combined into one year), and all my math classes have been accelerated math courses.
However, my math level is not all that high, I will finish trigonometry and start pre-calc the first term of my junior year. I will have finished Calculus AB by the end of junior year, and finish BC by the end of senior year.

I a first violin in our school orchestra, and was in the All-state orchestra this year as a second violin. Also, I am in the chamber orchestra (which is a smaller more elite orchestra at our school). I've been playing the violin for 8 years. I've also been playing the piano for 3 years now, and Drums for 2.

Before high school, i was a part of the lawrence program, where I went to lawrence with a group of kids and taught elementary school kids how to play the violin. I am a member of several community service clubs at our school. I started the Korean launguage club, where we teach the korean language to interested students. I do not play any JV or varsity sports, but I do do club sports like Hockey and Squash.

I will be attending the High school summer college at stanford this summer.
Next summer I will probably do a homestay program in Japan for 6 weeks, going to TOIN, one of the top schools in japan. I also stay with my cousin in Korea every summer (we just hang out)

I have been a part of the school Debate team for 2 years, and i have won one novice division award.

I think the weakest part is my ECs. I was reading the other ppl's applications, and they seem to have a lot better ecs then me. If any of you could help, it would be appreciated very much.
Thanks!

Oh and I worked during the summer as a car mechanics assistant, and during the school year I work at the school library and as a comp sci lab proctor.

Also, I'm male and 16 years old. (I wish there was a way of editing posts...)

I believe that you have a good chance - just like everyone else. Admissions can be very random.

You should play heavily on the ECs you already have, esp violin and orchestra etc.

Thanks. Any advice is appreciated.

If your studying at Exeter, I think you'll get in. If not Stanford, then somewhere else equally good.

Int'l might count against you a tiny bit, but with Exeter behind you and things like first violin (and truly no offense, but i'm assuming that w/ all the rich, white/asians there, there are some pretty good musicians) in that orchestra and a GPA that will put you quite high in comparison to your classmates, I think you've got a good shot.

Sorry, what does Int'l mean?

And thanks, I feel a bit better about my chances now.

Int'l means "International" :)
