What can I do with a linguistics degree?

I'm positive that I want to major in linguistics, since languages and wordplay have always been my passion. I was heavily considering double majoring in a foreign language, probably German or Russian. I would love to be a translator or professor one day, but I'm not sure how realistic these are. Do I have any other options with this combination?
I know that computational linguistics is often regarded as the best option for a linguistics major, but I can't see myself studying computer science. I wouldn't mind working on a computer and whatnot, but I don't like science or math, so I doubt I could get through the courses. Can a linguist with little or no training in programming enter software development, or would one have to double major in a CS field?
What are some other good choices for a linguistics major? Remember, I don't mind attaining a masters or doctorate, or double/joint majoring (unless it's computer science).

try typing "linguistics" into a search engine, like monster.com, to see what kind of job listings will come up. this can give you an idea of what you can do with that degree.

There's speech pathology, where you treat patients w/ speech problems. I think you can get either a masters or a PhD to do that.
Like you said, you could be a professor, or if you know a second-language well enough you could be a high school teacher who teaches foreign languages.
I think if you want to get into computational linguistics, it would be very useful to take computer science courses, or get a job that involves programming or something like that. But yea, if you don't like science or math, you probably won't like CS either....I mean, I like/do well in science and math, but CS seems really difficult to me!
So yea......I would suggest getting a research position at your university to see if you like doing research, that way you know whether you want to get a PhD or not....and then if not, you can explore the other possibilites.

my mother is a linguistics major and can speak russian and ukrainian fluently (she also used to know german but not anymore). she used to translate russian documents into english for nsa.
