What can I do with a PhD in Neuroscience?

I plan on majoring in Neuroscience and Biology in college. I want to go on to grad school with my neuroscience degree. Also, I'm considering becoming a pharmacist if a career in research/academia doesn't work out. What are some jobs someone with a PhD in neuroscience can get, and what is the salary like? All help is appreciated. (:

If you are interested in neuroscience, then you might also be interested in becoming a psychiatrist or even going into biomedical engineering.

If you have a lot of ambition and interest in the brain, why not look into neurology, i.e. medicine? You could always do an M.D./PhD, which is a wonderful combination of degrees to have.

But as a neuroscientist, you would most likely become a researcher or professor, or a researching professor. Another possibility is to become a pharmaceutical scientist specializing in drugs that affect the brain; you could come up with the next prozac or something like that.
Look up scientists like Joseph LeDoux and Eric Kandel; they are the quintessential neuroscientists.

Good Luck.
