What can I do with political science?

<p>I know I could do things like police work with a degree in it, but then again you can do that with any major.</p>

<p>What about working in something like the FBI or CIA? How about working in actual politics (e.g. town council, or even higher)? I know a lot of people treat it as a "joke degree" but obviously there must be some things you can do with it or else nobody would major in it.</p>

<p>I'm not interested in being a lawyer.</p>

<p>You can work in the international arena of politics, most notably United Nations.</p>

<p>Coming from a three years in the polisci major. Its not a joke degree at all, and I would never think police work…like ever.</p>

<li>You can work for nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations, which span every conceivable cause you could dream of. Democracy Development, Women’s Issues, the Environment…you name it.</li>
<li>Political Consulting: The people that candidates hire to make their ads, shape their message of the campaign etc. This can also extend to other products in the off years. </li>
<li>Leads to Masters programs in Public Relations, Public Policy, Campaign Managing and Public Administration.</li>
<li>Yes, the FBI/CIA hire people from Political Science and International Relations majors – you have a really good chance at those jobs if you’re intermediate-fluent in a foreign language, and physically fit (for the FBI) if you’re looking to do field work.</li>
<li>Political Science majors are hired for internships and positions as Legislative Assistants on the Capitol Hill because many of them have ambitions to run for office from city council on up. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Republican National Commitee (RNC) also, along with any political wing of any party. </li>
<li>All of the U.S. Departments (Health, Commerce, Homeland Security etc.) look for PoliSci majors if they aren’t looking for Finance majors. </li>

<p>If you have any questions about what you want to do with it, just message me. You wouldn’t believe what you can do with a PoliSci degree, it’s not just for law school.</p>
