what can I do with this stupid ACT score?

So apparently I took my ACT score and selected 4 colleges to send. I thought I would have to actually click "send" so the scores would be sent manually. However, I just got my test results and it was bad. Now the scores are automatically sent to the colleges. What can I do now? I don't want any of those colleges to look at the scores!!

Do NOT message the ACT company asking them to intercept and not send your scores (yeah, of all the crap I know about college admissions I don’t know the name that administers ACT and the one that sends. Never took it myself). I asked Collegeboard to do this but they completely ignored me. I even said they can keep my money (it was still in pending process too, meaning they haven’t sent them!). Whatever, it was my fault.

The only option you have is to tell the colleges not to consider them and to remove them from your file.

^um, they probably ignored you because Collegeboard has nothing to do with the ACT. Collegeboard runs the SAT, not the ACT.

Even though it’s more expensive, I never send the scores when I register; I always wait until afterwards and then pay to send them becuase that way I know I’m happy with my scores. Just take the test again and hope you do better (which it is likely you will). If the colleges you sent your scores to don’t allow you to use the Score Choice option, then they would have seen it anyways, so there’s nothing you could really do about it. It’s your highest score that matters the most, so just focus on improving next time rather than worrying about this one bad score.

<bindersopen> Did I really have to put “disclaimer” on the first part of my last post for Mr. Smartass to see or does my saying that I don’t know crap about ACT implies that I might not be the best person to trust? I just stated what I thought based on my past, similar experience.</bindersopen>

What’s your advice on this? How do you know they won’t ignore you, too? They have so many people… They don’t really have time to pay attention, but it was worth a try.

^I’m just saying you probably asked the wrong company. You should have probably asked the ACT company instead (I don’t know the ACT company’s name either though :p).

^On that post, I mentioned I never took the ACT. So why would I ask the ACT company anything? You’re saying I somehow wrongly posted Collegeboard, yeah?

I don’t know if ACT still does this, but they used to allow you to change your chosen schools up to some point. Log on and find out if that time has passed.

However, if you’re a soph or junior, why do you care? You’ll have plenty of time to send better scores.

What was your score and who did you send them to?

well it depends how ‘‘Bad’’ it is. A lot of people on here would probably consider like a 30 a bad ACT score haha. I mean just retake it and theyll see that you did better. and Next time, dont put any schools. Even though it will cost me more money I never send my scores until I get my score

My score was a 25 LOL and yes it is a very bad score for the ivies…I called the schools and told them about my situation, they told me that they take the highest score from either SAT or ACT, so I guess they will just take my SAT scores lols

well there’s nothing you can do about it now. i’m sure if you score better colleges will consider that score more carefully. leave this situation behind you and focus on other parts of the process now.

WOAH people are getting defensive. Binders got confused with melin’s post- melin said that he tried to stop his SAT scores from sending by talking to collegeboard and they ignored him- so it could possibly happen with the ACT and the “ACT-board” hah.

Anywayyy. There’s probably nothing you can do. 25 isn’t the best, but it’s not DEATH (death would be if you got under 20, i think). Just make sure to do extra well the next time you take it, and send it.
