What can I do

It's only a cal state but i heard its hard to get into and its also my dream college can anyone tell me what I should do to increase my chances

Make sure you complete the igetc with all “golden four” done as well. Following this will complete the required 60 units to transfer and also don’t forget to check out the gpa you need under your desired major on the schools website.
Sdsu is known to be the third best csu after the cal polys, some people get into ucr or ucsc but get rejected by sdsu. So why is this your dream college, if I may ask?

OP,

What is it about SDSU that makes it your dream school? I saw some of your other posts in other subforums and it sounds like you think SDSU is a party school and that’s why you want to go. A lot of things have changed with sdsu. They have extremely raised their standards on admissions, made their programs more rigorous, banned most of the frats, and many other things to raise the prestige of the school and also get rid of that part school image. And it has worked. People have gotten accepted into most UC’s and still rejected by sdsu. it’s not “just a csu” anymore.

I also see that you want to major in business and that you are deciding between sdsu and csuf for business. SDSU has an amazing business program and a lot of alumni who come back and network with the students and set them up with jobs. It’s a great program to be a part of. Tops of all the csu’s.

As for the partying school, it’s no more of a party school and no less of a party school than any other college out there. Regardless where you go to college, there will be parties. What probably make sdsu more desirable in terms of partying is that there are a lot of good looking students. But the part school it use to be known for has ended a few years ago. Years back when the school use to be ranked in the top 10 of just about every poll, there was no alcohol ban in public nor on the beaches. That changed starting 4-5 years ago. Once that went into effect, the school’s party ranking started dropping. Then there was a lot of trouble with the greek life. There were a lot of rapes, over doses and other types of deaths within and around campus. Most frats have been banned or suspended and the school set strict rules on their partying. The campus pd and city pd has also started being strict about everything. so most parties dont even last. But the great things is that once you turn 21, you go to the bars in pb. THose are a blast.

dont get me wrong, sdsu is an amazing school in an amazing city. There is just as much partying at sdsu as any other college. Things have just became more strict at sdsu. From an academic standpoint, and also safety standpoint. But dont let that discourage you, you will still be a part of some amazing times and amazing partying. Its just thats not why sdsu should be your dream school.

As for what you can do to improve your chances, its all about your gpa. This isn’t a UC where extra curricular activities will boost your chances. As a transfer, complete your igetc, as much of your pre major as your can and get the highest gpa possible. It is easier for transfers to get in than freshman, but it’s still challenging.

It’s my dream cause I am originally from San Diego living in orange county now and for their good business classes and location

@ beachkid, complete the igetc or plan B - GE pattern, and ALL of your major prereqs and if you still get denied, write an appeal, it really works. I dont denied by state twice and last time this year decided to appeal and it worked!

best of luck!
