I’m applying to Barnard this fall and I really want to get in because it’s my dream school! But if an interview doesn’t go well, I’m sure it doesn’t help. I get really nervous and clam up sometimes, so I was wondering if any of you could tell me what to expect in an interview so that I can go into it with confidence. If it helps, I live in NH which is (regardless of what Google Maps says) about a six-hour drive away from NYC, so it won’t be an on-campus interview. Any help is wonderful, thanks!

I live in TX so it was a bit different for me; there were no alumni in my area, so I had a phone interview. I’m sure the content of the interview will be similar, even if the medium is different. She asked me the classic “tell me about yourself” question. They don’t have any information about you, so make sure you have a good answer for that question. I was also asked why I wanted to go to Barnard, what I’m interested in, what my aspirations are, etc. There weren’t any trick or weird questions. Just be yourself, and you should be fine!
