what can i major in

I’m a 12grade student. I have a hard time deciding my future major. What are the possible majors for me: my intersts-

Excellent at Math(mainly Pre-Cal & Calculus)

Ok at Science. I hate biology. I like physics and chemistry. though i dont have high grades in them. i still find physics interesting.

hate business stuff (i dont have good communication skills plus i dont like leadership activities and stuff like that)

i want nice money after i get my bachelors.

dont like medical stuff

history,government and economics bore me.

ok at art suff.

Thats about it. I would appreciate some advice.

Why don't you go in undecided? Take your general education classes, and do whatever you're passionate about. Most schools don't require you to be positive of your major until the end of your sophomore year.

Some comments:

Good - Math is the key to the sciences and finance. But Calc is really just the beginning. Perhaps over the summer you can find a local college that offers something in another area like linear algebra or logic.

Interest is the key thing. Without it you will not be able to sustain the good grades needed to survive a competitive major.

Too bad. But since you know your communication skills are weak, that's another thing to work on. Good communication skills are an absolute MUST for any kind of job with a future. Consider seriously developing skill in a "high need" foreign language (e.g. Russian, Arabic, etc.).

Doesn't everyone. No matter what you major in, be prepared to move, possibly across country.

OK. But what medical stuff in particular? If you mean things like "family doctor", what about biomedical engineering?

Too bad. Those topics are relevant to almost everything - and you'll be taking them in the form of "core" or "distribution" requirements anyway. Go into them with an open mind - often an excellent, enthusiastic teacher can make the difference in student interest.

Unforturtunately, "OK" is nowhere near good enough in the arts. Again though, if you have some interest, fields like Art History and Museum Studies might be possibilities (though both will require graduate degrees).

So... think about WHY you "hate" certain subjects. In many cases its really just a poor instructor or a personality conflict, not the subject material. You'll likely have some contact with your college's academic advisors over the summer - so it won't hurt to start developing a relationship as early as possible.

And as FFB said, don't worry about it too much until you have a couple semesters under your belt.

I was really thinking about majoring in some kind of engineering or computer science field. It involves math, science and technology. Plus i can get pretty good money with that major after my bachelors.

Another possibility is the Earth Sciences. Not many students think about it critically as a major, but it seems to meet your interests on a first order and you can get a job with a BS.
