I know there is a whole housing handbook, but I can't find the specific information I need. Mostly I'm wondering about the walls, I know you can't use nails or tape or thumbtacks, so what do you use to put things on the walls? The FAQ page on the housing website referenced "plastic tack", but I have no idea what that is and a google search for plastic tack gave me so many different results. Is it similar to command strips? They are adhesive strips that are supposedly removable and leave nothing behind.

Also, if command strips are acceptable, would they allow the command hooks that let you hang picture frames or canvas?

I'm wanting to make my dorm look as far from the little white prison cell that is as possible, so if anyone has any ideas or has heard of any ways that people have creatively gotten around the weird decorating regulations feel free to share those too!

(And if there are any other things I'm not allowed to do decorating wise, let me know!)

Thanks!

I’m also wondering about vinyl decals and things that stick to the walls and are removable.

I am assuming you are a girl, since you are interested in decorating your room…yes, the command hook/strips are fine. Most girls cover their bulletin boards in fabric (use a heavy duty stapler) and outline the board in a coordinating ribbon. Ends up looking very nice. If you go to the Clemson website and select “housing” you should be able to pull up the previous year’s housing brochure and there are pictures/examples of how room are decorated in the various dorms.

the FAQ section summed it up pretty nicely with what you can’t use. Other than that, as long as you don’t damage the walls (they’ll get you with the charges if you do) or anything in your room, anything is fair game.

I didn’t really decorate my room since I’m a guy so I can’t really help you out with this haha

I’m guessing they allow removable wall decals then?

ehhh im not sure what is or isn’t allowed but if you don’t leave any marks on the wall and leave your room back to pre-move in conditions, anything outside of the rules should be ok
