What can I write this essay about?

I have one essay left and it is the 500 word essay (setback essay). I want to write it on the time I got suspended for pulling some heist. But they require me to give them an essay about that in the additional information page since I was suspended. So I am not sure about how to approach this. Should I write two essays, one for the suspended thing on additional info and one on another 500 word topic (which is going to be hard to think of)?

any suggestions? i really dont feel like writing two essays

whats the question?

i wrote about a book that had an impact on my life.that seems to be the easiest route if you read at all

If you’re too lazy to write two essays, one of which is 500 words, are you sure you want to go to Michigan?

I would really recommend coming up with something else for the setback essay. It’s only 500 words, you can BS something if you have to as long as you can write it well, and I really think it’s in your best interest not to highlight that issue any more than you have to. The University is probably not going to be impressed no matter how you spin it, and the point of the setback essay is to impress them with your ability to overcome an obstacle. You’re doing yourself an injustice by not taking that opportunity to impress them. Surely you can think of something. If not, is that not the section where you have more options? I thought that was the one where you could also choose to write about an issue that faces your community. I volunteer at a humane society so I wrote about the pet overpopulation crisis. I don’t remember doing a setback essay.

And besides, don’t you think they’ll notice if you write two essays about the same thing? Is it really worth it to risk them thinking you’re lazy? If the rest of your record is solid (besides the suspension), the last thing you want to do is make them doubt your interest on the application-- you’re in the home stretch.

I’d write about something else. They want to learn more about you. That being said, don’t worry too much about the essay, I don’t think U of M cares about it too much.

When I visited U of M yesterday, the admissions officer told me she got an essay from a girl about how she loves to torture little kids. The girl wrote about how she’s been torturing kids all of her life, and how she’s passionate about it. The admissions officer later found out that the girl didn’t proof read her essay at all, and that she had meant tutor kids, not torture them. She still got accepted with no problem.
