The damge caused by hurricane Katrina was immense. Each time I see the footage, it makes me want to do something even more. But, are there any other ways to help the victims besides monetary donations? Your suggestions would be really helpful.

why would you help?

I would like to help because I sympathize with the families who have lost their homes, jobs and schools due to this natural disaster. Not to sound mundane but, any little thing can make and difference. And if you knew you could help, Why Wouldn't You?

fundraisers. did two major ones for the tsunami (added up to $10000) and im doing a simple fundraiser (just donations for red cross) with my friends on monday around supermarkets and other crowded places in town (did it before, and net donations for that oneday should be around $4000). anyway, i try to contribute all i can that way - they need all the help they can get

Because the Goverment seems capable of it. 22+ countrys have offered support, we ahve turned them all down.

I could understand suport the Tsunami, but not this, because we have our own resources.

But we have NEVER accepted aid from any other country.

i come from a country hit by tsunami. beleive me, it's not nice at all.

Nice to see charitable people like you on here Scotch... "why would you help?"

Me and my family are going to give some money to the Red Cross.
Are any organizations taking supplies like canned food, blankets etc.?

Despite her broken english, watching this interview with Celine Dion on Larry King Live was rather moving, and she seems to really be able to voice all the frustration that we all feel about being so helpless....
