What Can You Buy At A Restaurant With a Budget of....$12?

Lol. I have been to the one on Nagle…

Wow that sushi seems really inexpensive!

For $12 I could get a lunch entree at my firm’s cafeteria, or a salad from freshdirect. I could go to a deli and get a sandwich too.
A casual dinner with friends is usually around 100/person.

We will have to check that out on the way to camp, thanks!!

The Range Cafe in Albuquerque has several things that are $12.99 or under that make a filling meal–

A HUGE bowl of green Chile chicken stew topped with crispy blue corn strips and a gigantic flour tortilla on the side (seriously big tortilla–like 12" across–comes with honey butter) is $11.99

The blue corn enchilada plate with cheese or calabacitas filling, which comes with arroz verde and freshly cooked pinto beans is $12.99

Taco salad (crispy corn tortilla bowl filled with mixed green, freshly cooked black beans, tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, white cheddar) $12.99

Burrito plate–burrito filled with with beans or calabacitas, topped with red or green Chile and cheddar, sides of arroz verde and freshly cooked pinto beans $12.99

Smash burger plate-- two 1/4 lb hamburger patties with lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, pickle plus a side of French fries, homemade red Chile potato chips or side salad $12.99

Reys nachos–tortilla chips topped with chicken, black beans, cheddar, cojita, smoked Chile crema, Chile con queso, guacamole and salsa $12.99

NM Mac & cheese with green Chile $12.99

Quesadilla (cheese, artichoke hearts, red bell pepper, tomato, green Chile) with guacamole and salsa on the side $10.99

El Modelo where there is nothing over $10 on the menu–but there’s no inside seating, only picnic tables outside. (Best tamales in ABQ, though)

Ooo…this is a fun thread. I’m getting the pork sandwich plate with two sides from a local BBQ joint. It’s $9+ tax ($10 if you want brisket). If I’m not too hungry, I can order one fewer side and get a fountain drink instead.

Silly me starting this thread, now I’m just HUNGRY!!!

We have a place in Ohio called City BBQ - so much better than a fast food burger joint and for about $10 I can get a pulled pork/chicken or brisket sandwich and two sides (the baked beans are AMAZING) plus their condiments include fresh red onion, delicious pickles and sliced jalapeños.

Another fav is a local Mediterranean - very fresh. I’ll get a “pick two” that can include several varieties of gyros (beef, chicken, falafel) and I’ll get a side of fresh hummus and pita chips or the feta salsa. $10.95

My friends and I are fond on happy hour. We can go to our local sushi hole in the wall and share a couple of rolls for about $12 each, before the cocktails of course. My husband and I also like a local brew pub for drinks and soft pretzels with cheese sauce. Breakfast can be done for around that price if we go with regular coffee and not lattes.

I don’t think I could get a meal for $12 at any restaurant near me. The best I could do would be to go to a nearby Korean restaurant and get dumplings (Mandu), kimpab (Korean version of sushi) or scallion pancakes. All the entrees here are just over $15 and the average is $18. Those entrees are generous and one is enough for two people. My husband and I usually split an entree when we go here.

It’s good too! Freshly made by a Japanese sushi chef named Hiro.

Per person!!! I have never paid $100 for a meal in my life! I am not sure I have ever paid $30 per person for a meal. I do not have a palate that would justify that. Does that include multiple drinks? Dessert?

We like a local mom and pop Mediterranean place where you order at the counter and they bring to your table. Large entrees, very fresh and delicious. We usually split something like the warm caprese sandwich which comes with a side of lemon chicken rice soup. If we order a 2nd cup of the soup it comes to just under $17. The sandwich is huge, one person could not eat it! Lots of entree salads in the $12.50-13 range.

H and I usually get a slice of pizza each and we share a soda. Total $5.02!

I love breakfast sandwiches. My favorite place has them for $6-$8 each. That and a cup of tea or coffee is less than $12.

I always get annoyed when you can get a delicious generous breakfast sandwich - as you say - for $6-8 but if you get like a “breakfast skillet” - not really MORE food, just served in a different way, it’s $10-12!

I just ordered dinner for two from a local natural food cafe. I ordered a meal size salad that has no meat and a chicken sandwich on homemade wheat bread that comes with tortilla chips. Total with tip was 31.00. Aside from a few taco places I think $12.00 is hard.

I just ordered my two tacos for $8.

I like it when a restaurant offers a lunch menu with lower entree cost than dinner. (Sometimes that’s because the lunch plate has less food, fine by me.). When the cost is same lunch or dinner, I tell hubby let’s just do dinner there.

My husband is vegetarian and can usually get an order of pancakes, or eggs and hash browns and toast for, or under $12. And a new place around here has my favorite, buffalo chicken salad, for just under $12. I wonder how long that will last…
