<p>Well, I'm thinking it would be a good idea to do applied mathematics, maybe in computer science.</p>
<p>Actuaries at the larger national insurance companies make a really, really good living.</p>
<p>Many moons ago I started actuarial studies, then got hooked on econometrics, plenty of need out there for mathematical modeling, most is computerized now but there are many applications in business. Many schools have Math/Econ combined majors, a link to Yale's is below...</p>

<p>Statistics! there is a shortage of biostatisticians - a great field to get into - although you probably need a master's degree. If you like math and like to try to figure things out or explain things to people, you will probably like any kind of applied statistics.</p>
<p>A lot of people like my father actually prefers to hire math majors over econ/business majors for the company to get the work done in things like accounting and plans for their company.</p>
