What career is this?

Hello everyone!
I have a question... On the Common App, it asks me what my career interest is...
I want to major in Broadcast Journalism and have my own TV show and be the host. I pretty much want to be like Ellen DeGeneres, you know... How she is funny and talks to the audience and makes the whole show fun. I don't want to be a reporter of some news show or a writer for a magazine, so what would I choose?

There are two options:
Actor or Entertainer
OR
Writer or Journalist

I would suggest you go with - Actor or Entertainer.

Writers and journalist would be a totally different job category, considering you career prospect and interest, as you define them.

how many people like Ellen are there in the US that work in this “career”? less than 10?

@soccerguy315 wow thanks for the great help.

i’m just saying you might want to have a backup plan…

there are fewer people like Ellen than Quarterbacks in the NFL.

I’m agreeing with soccerguy315. While it’s good to have ambitions and goals, you need to be realistic about how you will get there. I would suggest going in as a journalist and focusing on broadcast and telecommunications. Realize that you may have to spend many years finding news stories and doing behind-the-scenes work before you even become an anchor or get any opportunity to be on camera.
