I took to heart the advice long ago (a much older good friend who was retiring) to pick an age you like and stick with it. Good advice. Getting old is sometimes more a state of mind than anything else.

I used to want to believe that. Not so much anymore what with all my post-Covid health problems. Much more difficult for an old body (Oldmom I am!) to handle.

My grandmother turned 100 earlier this year. She says sheās āgetting olderā but does not consider herself āold.ā Last week we were together and I mentioned that I was now feeling firmly middle-aged. My mother and grandmother both feel theyāre still middle-aged, too. So yes, definitely a state of mind!
Of course, I like the idea that the French have of the 3rd age (3eme age). Itās not being āoldā itās just moving on to the 3rd phase of life (which I interpret for myself as retirement with the kids living in the world as adults). I anticipate a lovely time in that phase of life! Of course, of all the relatives older than me (apart from the 100-year old), Iām the only one who shows my grey hair!

Candace Cameron Bure and Mayim Bialik are two that I admire, and since both of them have been in the business so long, I feel like I have grown up with them.

You could play with celebs with your same birthday. My mother had Madonna, Frank and Kathy Lee Gifford, and Elvis died on her birthday.

My oldest turned 53 yesterday. My kids range in age from 53 to 20 (younger ones are adopted).
