What chance do I have at getting into Georgetown University through Early Action?

4.5 weighted GPA (3.95 unweighted)
ranked 9th in class of 350
34 ACT
1330 SAT (they don't take writing)
6 Varsity athletic letters
vice president of National Honor Society
vice president of class
various other clubs

will take SAT 2s this weekend but AP's:
AP Government-4
AP Chemistry-4
AP US History-4
AP English Language-3

Also applying to:
Notre Dame
Washington University in St. Louis
University of Florida
Wake Forest University

SAT 2’s???

You have decent chances of getting in, and early action will make those chances even higher. You have a stellar GPA and class rank, and you would fit Georgetown’s average SAT score range. You would be a good fit in the school. If you write good essays and have good ECs, I’m sure you can get in.

Anyone else?

Me, please
4.0 GPA (unweighted - no B’s EVER haha)
Rank: 1 out of 460
1390 SATs (690 on Writing section)
Academic All-American in Speech/Debate
3 Letters in Speech/Debate
National Honor Society
Red-Cross Volunteer for 3 years
President of Earth Club
Lots of Political Campaign volunteering and experience.
My interviewer said that doing a few clubs that you really focus on is best instead of trying to do as many as possible. Is that the general consensus? Hope so, because I only do the above 5 but they still manage to fill my schedule full.
SAT 2s:
Literature - 710
Mathematics Level 2 - 680 (will not be looked at for EA because Nov. Test date)

No APs, but I’m in the International Baccalaureate Programme and will take exams at end of senior year; hope to do well.

Also Applying to:
Tufts University
Vassar College
American University
Wagner College
Northwestern University
Gustavus Adolphus College

Oh, and I don’t know if this will help me, but…
I was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia (I’m now a US citizen) and I speak fluent Bosnian. Hope that somehow distinguishes me from all the other just-as-qualified applicants. haha

1: You could probably get into Georgetown if you have good ECs. Your academics are great but they are nothing w/o good ECs at such a competitive school.

2: Your test scores could hurt you, and yes, focus not well-roundedness really helps when applying to colleges.

Chance back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/804723-chances-ed-dartmouth.html

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to sound bitter or anything but… my scores compared to the first person on this thread are about the same if not a little higher… why is it that he would have better chance at admission than me? My scores are pretty competitive at a school like Georgetown and it’s not like they only look at scores for judgement for admission. Anyway, like I said I don’t mean to sound bitter or anything but I would like to know if I have a legitimate chance instead of just “your scores could hurt you”. Thanks!

i think you have a good chance of getting in I’m also applying there so if you could give me your thoughts on my app i would really appreciate it:

does any one know how much weight being an Eagle scout will pull?? All my scores and GPA and stuff are in range but i wanted to know how good a chance ill have with that

Also interested in what someone’s thoughts are on being an Eagle Scout. You always hear it looks good for colleges, but also wondering if anyone really knows. Do you think it helps at all with acceptance to Georgetown?
Thanks for your thoughts.
