What Chances do I have?

I am a white jewish male living in suburban NJ. My freshman year I did awful with a 3.1 gpa unweighted, but I was able to get it up to a 3.4 unweighted. I will be majoring in computer science. I'm aware I don't that I probably don't have much of a chance, but I'd like to see if it's even worth applying...

I got a 710 for math, 660 for reading and 640 for writing on the SAT. ACT I haven't taken but I expect a 29~31ish. Here are my EC activities and honors/ap classes

Classes:
Honors Lit)dropped out at end of freshman year, got a C+( did very poorly freshman year overall)
AP Lit(went back junior year)
APUSH
AP German
AP comp sci
AP Psychology
AP Macroeconomics
Honors pre calc
AP calc

EC activities:
best tennis player in school of 2800
varsity cross country
FBLA
German Honor's Society
Key club
Make a wish club( gf dragged me to the last two clubs i mentioned, lol)
Full time lifeguard over summer
100 hours of community service helping disabled children to swim and a little at a food bank

Should I even bother applying? I feel like comp sci here is very competitive. Do I have any chance? Thanks for reading and thanks in advance, everyone.

Given that you are an out-of-state student your chances of being accepted or at least being put on the wait list increase. Your HS grades and extracurriculars are similar to mine and I got into a lot of good private schools like Pepperdine, University of Denver, and Trinity University. I was surprised though because my SAT scores were lower than yours.

You must apply because I think your chances are really good as long as you have well-written application essays.

Thanks for replying. when you applied to Illinois was it for comp sci? Because I heard it is substantially more competitive than most majors they offer

OOS has nothing to do with it. You’re correct. CS is very competitive. It’s worth giving it a shot. Apply. If you don’t you’ll never know.

maybe consider applying to an easier department (LAS or General Studies) if you are confident that you have a shot of transferring over. I feel that you would have gotten in to CS if you applied within the priority deadline.

I will be applying next year. Those are just the classes I’ll be taking^ The 3.4 GPA is the bare minimum of what I’ll get. With my stats are you guys confident I’ll get in for CS? 60-40ish?
