What class did you take for your American Cultures (AC) requirement?

I'm thinking about taking an AC course that's not related to my major at all. Maybe something like Archaeology. What'd you take?

I took Soc 3AC with Brian Powers. Definitely not recommended; check my RateMyProfessors review dated May 18 or 19.

I took History 7B with Litwack. He's a Berkeley institution because he's won a Pulitzer Prize and has been in Berkeley since forever. He tells you everything that's wrong with America. The thing is, you need to remember everything he says or your grade is shot. It was an interesting experience.

ESPM 50AC. Total Waste of Time. Boring. You will learn absolutely nothing in the class. But it's easy so what can I say.

Trust me, this class will make you feel like you're still in high school, where BSing can still get you good grade.....very good grade.

I actually took a course in my community college, so I can't make any personal-experience comments. However, a few of my friends have had great experiences with Music 26AC this past semester.

Music 26AC was definitely worthwhile. It's not too hard, but there is quite a bit of reading.

All AC classes seem to have a lot of reading. As I said on RMP, Soc 3AC has 600+ pages of reading, yet you learn surprisingly little.

Bare-bones summary in three sentences:

American society is unequal because of the system -- it is set up so that many high-paying jobs are tied to educational level, which is correlated with the income class one is born into.

We live in a society where gender and race very much affects one's social position.

Families carry out the functions of society, and families of different races and social classes tend to carry out those functions in different ways.

hypnosx, what is espm?

when do you recommend fulfilling the AC req.? asap or should i wait it out a few years

^^ Yeah, good question. Get it out of the way, or wait to blend it with upper division major reqs. jr or sr year?
