Time is winding down, and your senior year is almost over. Your grades are perfect.
Which class do you skip the most and what do you do while your skipping that class.
when was the first time you skipped a class?

Gym class–i try to avoid it as much as i can lol…but not too often though…b/c missing it=makeups :[

I never skipped a class in high school.

The only class I skipped with any regularity (I missed a couple because I was working on a project and needed it done then, couldn’t wait) was my Calc 3 class, because I really was better off studying it by myself than sitting in the class (given, I had actually pre-learned all the material before I took the class). I still went most of the time, but sometimes I really just couldn’t motivate myself to go.

are you allowed to skip class sometimes in college? that would be sweet

^Depends on the class, but most you can skip, they’re not taking attendance or anything like that for most classes. However, you can’t skip and then get away with not knowing the material.

For what it’s worth, I really do recommend going to all classes, even stupid ones where you REALLY don’t want to go. Unless you have something you absolutely need to get done right then, go to class.

@bobtheboy I heard that some colleges don’t even check roll to see if you are present.

I don’t skip any of my classes. I don’t believe that I could do that even if I felt compelled to.

My grades are borderline. :P

And if I’m not much mistaken, I’ve never skipped a class…although I have gone on some conveniently timed vacations ;)

I think most college classes would not take attendence but you should always go to class because you need to know the material.

Thanks to scheduling conflicts I’m independently studying physics in a classroom with another science class. The teacher doesn’t care what I do or how quickly, so long as I meet massive due dates. This fact in mind, I generally schedule all of my extracurricular business during the time slot or hint that I’m needed in the engineering department.

Yes, this is it.

Our high school assigns consequences for skipping.

I believe you are listed as AWOL and can receive a referral…

Our school really doesn’t care as long as you don’t come in late or skip school too often. That’s resulted in over 600 unexplained absences so far this year in our house alone (that’s about 200 people). My mom’s always willing to say I’m sick though :D

^ really? my teacher nags you and nags you and nags you to death for notes for absences a term old! In my old school I used to go for extended bathroom breaks most in chemistry or computers.

^ Oh, so does ours, but there aren’t really consequences. Every morning she’s chasing up people for absence notes, but only one person keeps getting bugged by our head of house.

^ thanks for that, now I might be more motivated to skip

haha I’m so surprised with my attendance so far. Maybe it’s because I live with my dad now that I’m more scared to bunk.

My Honors Bio teacher docks points for absences, even if they are excused. Depending how many total points we have for a 6-weeks period, one day missed usually means about .5 off your total grade.

Once I would have had a 100% in the class, but missed 3 days due to sickness and ended up with a 98.6%

^teachers can do that? I thought that violated some sort of disability discrimination rule.

Definitely business. I spend the period with my best friend who has a spare.
To be frighteningly honest, I first skipped a class the day before winter break in grade nine.

I never actually skipped a class, but I stayed home from school during morning bells or gone home early on account of “sickness,” the former more frequently.
So, World History. I had no reason to come to a class that’s a waste of my time. Why should I have taken it seriously when my teacher obviously didn’t?
