What class rank is a 3.6 GPA at your school?

Yes it does.
Top fifth percent: 4.81-4.28
Highest: 4.81
Mean: 3.5
Lowest: 1.13

These are all weighted.

I go to a good school where everyone takes multiple honors/APs, and has lots of extra activities. With a 3.6 you would be in the top 3/4s. Most of us get a 3.76 (5 As 2 Bs) on our report cards. So yea. Your probably in the top 3/4 or 2/3 around here.

If your school’s mean for last year’s class is 3.5 and you have a 3.6, then it’s pretty obvious you are ranked just above the middle 50%. It is becoming more common for competitive high schools to not rank students, but only offer these percentage “belts” to colleges. Our district will not rank after this year. To avoid large chunks of ties, class rank has been carried out 4 decimal places which resulted in quite a difference in numerical rank between students who essentially had the same GPA. In competitive high schools, the class rank system hurts more students than it helps when applicant-inudated colleges are quick to use a class rank number as a disqualifier for admission. That said, falling in the middle 50 percent says you are not taking the most rigorous courses offered by your school or are taking them and, comparitively, not faring as well as the the best students in your students in your school - those that have the 4.5+ GPAs.

My unweighted is 3.6, those percentages I mentioned earlier were for WEIGHTED GPA’s. At the moment, I do not know my weighted GPA so that’s why I want to get the opinion of fellow CCer’s like you!
