What class should I take senior year?

I want to major in engineering and possibly minor in English (though that may too difficult for me in the future).

Right now this is what my senior courseload looks like:
AP Biology
AP Political Science/Economics
AP Statistics
AP Computer Science
AP English Literature
AP Art History

I am deciding on one more class to take but there are only three optionss:
Latin 1
English 4
Student Aide for AP Chem

Which one should I take? I already have 4 years of Chinese (didn’t want to take AP because I dislike the teacher) but I have always wanted to take Latin. On the other hand, I think it would be interesting to also take English 4 along with AP Lit. Being a student aide would be less stressful.

Also, please don’t laugh at me, but would there be any possibility that I could manage self studying for the AP Latin Vergil test? If so, how would you recommend doing so?

If I were you I’d be a student aide for AP Chem, your course load is already very rigorous so doing something less stressful may be a good idea. I wouldn’t consider taking English IV and AP Lit unless your school has interesting English electives instead of a generic English IV class.

Finally I would not recommend self studying for the AP Latin test if you’ve never taken Latin before. Latin is a challenging language with many declensions and cases, additionally in order to take the test you would have had to read specific challenging works by Vergil. Additionally the works you’d have to read are poetry, which requires many skills to read successfully in Latin.

I’ve been taking Latin since my freshman year (currently a sophomore, actually had my final today!) and personally I love it. I learned a ton of grammar concepts this year that I wasn’t taught in Latin I, and I imagine there is even more in III/IV. Honestly, self-studying for the AP Exam would most likely be nigh-impossible. Still, I don’t see the point in taking English IV and AP Lit, so unless you would rather be a student aide, I think Latin I is a good choice.
