<p>Are religion grades typically included in a GPA? What about the more legit class "World Religions"? How about TV production and Photography? Health, even?</p>

<p>I’m not sure if you’re asking about how your high school calculates the GPA or if you’re asking about colleges in general, but here goes. </p>
<p>Every high school is different so ask your high school guidance counselor. Most colleges want unweighted GPA and some will recalculate it based on courses or only include certain years (I think Stanford doesn’t include freshman year grades??) That said, selective college admissions offices will look at your transcript and see the rigor of your course selection during hs and may ask your counselor whether you have enrolled in the most challenging courses, very challenging courses, average, etc.</p>
<p>My school doesn’t provide a GPA. It uses a strange system to calculate rank. We are supposed to calculate our own GPAs if we want to know them. Anyone can average 3’s and 4’s so that isn’t a problem. </p>

I don’t know if what I’m doing is comparable to the “average unweighted GPA” colleges publish, what students on CC post, and the data entered on trackers like mychances. Are any/all of the classes above included in a standard GPA for comparison purposes?</p>

<p>Colleges want you to succeed in all of your classes. Most colleges recalculate your GPA, and while they mostly likely will not include these classes, they will not look well on your application if you couldn’t maintain good grades in blow off classes.</p>
<p>What you’re saying makes sense, but I’m still not sure of the answer to my question. When other people post their GPAs, do they include the A from these classes (let’s say art, since most don’t have religion)? </p>
<p>It would be really nice to be able to compare myself accurately so I know exactly where I stand, with hard numbers for comparison.</p>
<p>P.E. isn’t calculated in GPA for college.</p>
