What classes are included or required in GE?
How many classes should I take as a freshman?
What is the number of maximum or minimum classes that I have to take?
Are freshmen required to take any language classes?

For GE’s: http://reg.ucsc.edu/catalog/html/undergrad_gened.html</a></p>

You can only take a total of 15 units (usually 3 classes) for the Fall quarter. After that, you can take either 19, or the maximum of 22 credits (if your GPA is above a 3.0). A minimum of 15 units per quarter is required to graduate in four years.

Not sure about the language classes, but I hope not. I haven’t seen or read anything that says we need to, though.

But if I get credit for an AP language test, I can get some credits for elective, right?

No, Freshman are not required to take a language. However, if your major or minor requires a language component, you may want to try to start the language series Freshman year. Generally speaking, the first class in a language is only offered Fall quarter. For example, German 1 & 4 are in Fall, German 2 & 5 are in Winter, and German 3 & 6 are in Spring. But if you’ve taken the language before, you can do an interview to place you in the appropriate level; so you might not have to start languages right away.

kcobap: You can transfer in that AP credit to apply toward your total units needed to graduate (at least 180, no more than 220). Sometimes the AP tests also fill a GE or a University requirement, but it doesn’t seem AP Language tests do.
