Do colleges look at what specific clases you have chosen to take in high school? I'm going to be a junior next year and the classes I want to take are two APs, and the rest honors (for the basic classes: math, science, history, english, etc). I want to take photography and web design as well. Is that ok or bad if I want to get into Princeton?

Also, would it be good to take some business classes in high school?

Take more APs. Two is not many, especially if you can take the AP versions of your honors classes. If you’re taking photo and web design, then there should be some sort or justification for it on your activities sheet if you want it to help you (example: I listed the web sites I designed as freelance jobs). And personally I quease at the thought of business classes in my high school, but if that’s what you’re in to then follow your dreams :-D.

Colleges like Princeton will ask if you’re taking the most rigorous academic schedule as possible. It doesn’t preclude classes like Photog or Web but does your transcript reflect that of one of the top scholars in your high school? Dependent on the HS, this may vary, of course – but does your faculty and principal already regard you as one of the handful of top students? If so, then you’re a viable candidate.
