Well, I'm only a sophomore and in my school we aren't allowed to take an AP classes at our level. So... For my next year's schedule I was thinking I would take the most rigorous course load I could, or at least with rigor to some extent. Well, I automatically have to take electives and Physics Honors, PE, and so on, leaving me with only 5 classes that I actually get to decide on. So I was thinking:

AP Us History
AP Calc BC
AP English Lit
AP Spanish

Now the actual decision comes in... Should I take AP Macro or AP Chem next year? I was leaning towards Chem because I have Chem this year and I would think it'd be easier sicne the information would be fresh in my head, but I can't decide because I heard the AP Chem teachers are hard and the Macro teachers are easy graders yet teach very well. So, any opinions? They would be very much appreciated, especially if you read through this WHOLE thing!

On a side note, if I posted this in the wrong place, tell me please?

IMO, you should take AP Chem. Since you have Chem this year, you should be able to achieve a decent score on the AP Chem test and the Chem SATII at the end of your junior year.

Thank you for your opinion :D

I’m a junior this year who did Chem/AP Chem and I can say that AP Chem is a lot easier with all of it fresh in my mind. However, I have no idea about Macro, since my school doesn’t offer it.

Macro is easy enough to be a self-study AP. You’ll be better off taking Chem, while taking Macro the year after. With Chem still fresh in your head, and Calc BC while taking Chem (Rate laws, etc. use calculus), AP Chem is the way to go.

Well, you don’t want to overload on the AP course. In my school, freshmen are able to take APUSH (although next yr they decided that they will offer AP NSL as it is an easier class) and from what I heard (i didn’t take APUSH) its is very challenging. It is basically memorizing the textbook and self-study.
AP calc is very hard, but is easier to take if you took honors precalc. vs. regular precalc.

AP lit- not too sure…

AP spanish- very hard according 2 my teacher.

AP chem- honors chem is suppose to prepare u for AP, so u should definitely take that. Macro-idk.

Also: Physics is very hard too, requires use of prior knowledge to problems you have never seen be4.

So in my opinion, choose AP chem, but it really depends on your interests. Try to pick AP classes that you are most interested in, not just b/c its AP, b/c you don’t want to overload your schedule for next year, it would be very stressful.

Thanks for the replies!

So I guess AP Chem is the way to go?

@emeraldtree2 - I am taking Pre-calc Honors this year actually, Spanish will be challenging but I’m ready, US History I am should be fine with because I look at what my junior friends are studying just about once every week and, well, it doesn’t seem too hard (plus I’m good at memorizing!), and I’m sure Physics will be hard but I think I could handle everything. I want to have a science-related career to tell the truth, and it interests me, but I just started doing FBLA this year as a club and learning how Macroeconomics works will definitely help me for preparation in the club’s activities. So I see how it WILL be stressful, but I’m willing to take it.
