I should be going to school in the US in september and what kind of classes should I take. I'm going into junior year and I would like to know if I should take all AP classes. I don't know how the system works in the US when it comes to course selection

it depends on the kind of person you are. which classes have you already taken? where do you want to go for college?

You pick your own classes. Your question's too vague. Generally 4-5 APs are considered a pretty rigorous courseload. :D

I plan on doing engineering in college. I want to go to places like USC, Rice, Stanford or UC-Berkeley, Lehigh and other schools with good enginering programs. I currently am in first year IB and take HL Math, Physics and Computer Science and English. I did chemistry at gcse level and I plan on doing it. nShould I take as much AP's as possible to get into those kind of schools. My top choices are Rice and Stanford but I wouldn't mind going to anyone of these schools.

you should then take AP physics and AP computer science and AP Calculus and maybe another AP class if you want to. I live near USC and its a really good school and my friend got in last year by taking only 2 APs and maintaining a good GPA. Stanford is really competitive but you will do fine. You should definetly heavily pursue science and mathematic courses.

hmm, if your top choices are Rice and Stanford I would take as many APs as you can (at least math and science-wise, but preferably in all subjects).

are you the typical CCer with amazing grades and SATs lol?

so i should do all of those in my junior year or do some in junior and then some in senior. The main reason I am goig to the states is becase I am in a basketball program with a heavy traning regimen that takes up most of my time so other EC's are usually out of the question

than dont waste time with APs you dont need that are time consuming.

so to be considered for engineeing at top schools I only need to do AP physics. and calc

you can do others too but those are the main ones.
remember, APs do not guarantee admission
your basketball seems like something you are passionate about
dont just sign up for everything because you think some people are ahead of you

I just want to put myself in the best possible scenario to get into a top school. I was only into academics until I just started basketball recently so now I have two things to help me get into college. My last gpa was 3.8 in the top school in the Bahamas so I should be on the right track

then take this:
take AP calculus, AP physics, AP computer science, and everything else you can manage that wont lower your GPA and wont interfer with basketball

thanx i'll use this advice when I make it over. are there different levels to the AP physics and calc?

bumping is fun

AP Physics B and AP Physics C
AP Calc AB and AP Calc BC

What are the differences betwen the two. Its easy enuff to search about it on the web but i would like to hear from someone who has done it

anyone?????

BC is a college quarter ahead of AB. Both are about the same difficulty. AP Physics C is far harder than AP Physics B.

would i be penalized or looked down upon if the school im going to only offers physics b

That's a big, fat NO. :D
