What classifies as awards vs. adding to the extracurricular activities section?

Hi there!

I am a competitive swimmer and am on the varsity team for my high school. I wanted to add that I was a competitor on our conference and sectional team all years but am out of characters in the extracurricular section. Would it be okay to put this in the “awards and honors” section of the common app?

I’m pretty sure that section is for academic awards and honors. Your swimming awards should go in the description of your swimming in the extra curricular section.
