<p>right now im thinking about joining ACM (Association of Computing Machinery) because it relates to my major. I'm also thinking about doing a lot of community service so it looks good on my resume..
what else or what would you guys recommend for clubs/organizations? also, do you guys recommend a comp sci major to do a lot of community service or is it a waste of time?</p>
<p>You should join whichever clubs you enjoy and community service if you like doing it.</p>
<p>Join a reasonable number of clubs that help you learn your future profession better. Do join other clubs that interest you but always remember that your time is a precious, limited resource better invested into your future profession.</p>
<p>Community service because it “looks good on a resume”? Yes, no, and maybe. Do it because you feel it’s a good cause, not because some employer in the fuzzy future might care about it.</p>
<p>Active student ACM chapter is very helpful!</p>
<p>ACM for sure – participate in the competitions if you can.</p>
