I am a junior in highschool and am searching for a college. I can not find a college that I want to attend. I got a 28 on the act and I have a 3.5 UW GPA and a 3.9 W GPA. I started a non profit and am involved in three clubs at school. I want a college that has a relatively good d1 football team, and a large student body. That also has a good science program, specifically biology. Any ideas of college that I would be accepted to and fit this description? I would prefer a university that is not a huge party school. Thank you!
Good D1 football = parties.
What is your home state? How much can your family pay?
Illinois, but I have no preferences for which state the college is in. Also, my goal is to stay around $40,000 or year. Thanks
Look here for some options: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1678964-links-to-popular-threads-on-scholarships-and-lower-cost-colleges.html#latest
Your parents can pay $40K/year? That’s a pretty good amount that should open up options. Look at Alabama. I’m pretty sure you’ll get some kind of merit. A higher ACT would help a lot.
I believe 28/3.5+ is ⅓ tuition at Bama (which would bring it to about 36k/year). ⅔ for a 30 ACT, full for a 32, so like Erin’s Dad says, a higher ACT (or SAT, not sure if they’re changing reqs based on new scores) could be a big difference.
