So i just got a new ACT score of a 31 composite. I got 30 english 29 math 34 reading 30 science and have a weighted gpa of 4.09. I attend a very competitive bay area school and am with caucasian from middle class family (combined income $230,000 a year). The gap is 10-11 weighted. I took SAT II Bio E with 730
Im mostly looking at UC schools, since I’m looking for affordability.
UC Davis
UCSB
UCSD
UCLA (reach)
UCSC
Uc Irvine (iodinate like the school very much tho)
UC Berkeley… (unlikely i don’t think i have a 1% of getting in)
Cal Poly Slo
Cal Poly Pomona
The majors I have been looking at have been along the lines of life sciences…
I know this major is really competitive so i Was wondering what schools i should apply for and if any of the schools I said could allow me to change major in the future. i want to avoid schools with capped majors since I’m not 100% sure what i want to do quite yet.
Please chance me on bio major and if bad chances, what other major could i do thats related, thanks!
You don’t have a 1 percent chance at Berk lol. Its about the same chance as UCLA. Both are reaches, but you have a shot at both. But I agree with above, you have a good list
UC GPA is the same capped weighted as the CSU (8 semesters honors) so your Fully weighted UC GPA is 4.09?
Only UCLA and UCB use fully weighted UC GPA, the rest of the UC’s use the capped weighted (8 semesters honors).
@Gumbymom, can you tell me what “Biology capped major” for UCSD means? Also, how do you calculate “fully weighted UC GPA” for UCLA and UCB that you mentioned above?
Capped means impacted thus very competitive. If you apply to any capped major at UCSD, you should select a non-capped major as an alternate. If you do not select an alternate major, you could be accepted into UCSD as Undeclared than have to meet certain GPA requirements to switch majors later.
If you use the RogerHub UC GPA calculator, it will give you the UW UC GPA, Capped Weighted UC GPA (8 semesters of honors points) and the Fully Weighted UC GPA (unlimited honors points for UC approved Honors/AP/IB or DE courses).
