Pomona’s Frary Dining Hall resembles Hogwarts’

I think Oxford looks the most like Hogwarts overall, but the Peabody library at Johns Hopkins is… AMAZING

The University of Washington Library look very Hogwartish, is that a word?

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t the movie filmed in Oxford?

Going with University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning. The common room on the first floor has the long tables like in the Great Hall and its so amazing.

I am such a nerd.

If you’re a fan of HP stuff, def go to school in the UK. Oxford, Cambridge, U of St. Andrews all work. The architecture is a bit too old-fashion and European for me, but you know, you might like it.

Harvard. Definitely harvard…they even have a similar looking great hall like the dining hall in Hogwarts

Okay you know that NYT article that was like “most schools compare themselves to Hogwarts?” This is so true. A Claremont McKenna and Reed rep said this about their cafeterias ahhah I loled when they said that

Haha I didn’t read the whole essay but definitely UChicago…it has houses type rooming/building is also Hogwartsish and they follow Core Curriculum!

the dining room scenes came from Hamilton’s dining room.

Yale for sure. Check out the yard pool in the Payne Whitney Gym. You could have a quidditch match there.

Karl Weintraub was a very popular history professor at Chicago for many years (kids would camp out overnight to register for his classes). In those days (if not still) some professors would berate students openly for anything less than 100% focus on the class material. One day he sternly questioned an unresponsive class, in his thick German accent,

Vat* haf you been* vasting your time reading? Tol-kien???

I shudder to think what he would make of the Harry Potter obsession. But old school European professors had their own magic. Many students are looking for any element of atmosphere that draws them for a few years out of contemporary reality. The Ivory Tower is a good thing, in my opinion. By all means have a little fun exploring these places before buckling down to more prosaic stuff. Visit Oxford if you can - it’s not just a few buildings but a whole city of wonderful old spaces.
