The Great Hall at ChristChurch, Oxford, and the quad outside, is the place of much of the filming. (We were there during the making of the second movie.)

I totally forgot, at the U of Chicago, there are underground tunnels under the Midway Plaisance, which apparently used to be explored in scret by students but which have since been sealed off for asbestos.

Yup, and so does USC. Walter Annenberg, the founder of TV Guide, definitely spread his wealth around. He was also a big donor to Public Television.

Over the summer, I had the opportunity to visit UC Berkeley. Next to the football stadium, there's a dorm with striking similiarities to Hogwarts. However, I can't say the same about any other buildings I saw at UC Berkeley during my time there.

USMA at West Point, NY. Known to the inmates as:

"Castle Gray Skull". (if you saw it, you'd understand)

Boooooo!!!

jaimie17 - Have you seen Vassar's library? Go to

http://library.vassar.edu

and take the virtual tour. Although it looks good in these photos, I don't think they do it justice.

Every college with business/engineering/arts and sciences

business - like slytherin
engineering - like ravenclaw
arts and sciences - hufflepuff

gryfndor is like the honors college that overlaps the other three

I really should be doing something more constructive with my skipping-school time

what is your reasoning behind arts and sciences- hufflepuff? I would say arts and sciences- ravenclaw...

Hufflepuffers in the books seem goofy, and I think you find most of the quirkly philosophy kids in A and S colleges

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Caltech? They have hovses (houses) that are similar to, and even better than, the houses of Hogwarts.

Here are some pics from Cambridge (I love Cambridge!) that are really similar to Hogwarts.

... are possibly some of the coolest images I've seen in like years.

I love it. Thanks just for posting them.

I also really like this thread. :)

If you're looking for an amazing library check out UCSD's Geisel.

I believe the UCSD library in the picture posted by the above poster was featured in a movie, was it not?

RE: Riggs Library-

You're welcome! :p I like it a lot, too.

The UCSD library is neat but it's the least Harry Potter-ish thing I've ever seen.

I think when I went to visit Harvard they said that they used some of their buildings to film Harry Potter in, but don't quote me on that.

Look at Reed College's mascot!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reed_College

Fits the bill, I think...

mathisfun: I was also reminded of Harry Potter, when I saw Reed's mascot in one of their mailings last week!
