What college should I choose?

Hi guys I just wanted to get some insight into where I'm gonna spend the next few years of my college career. I'm gonna be graduating from community college in the next quarter or so and wanted to pursue a degree in MIS. I am already on track to complete my business associates with a 3.6 GPA and was looking at the following schools to transfer to. (San Jose state university, San Diego State University, Cal State Fullerton, Cal poly San Luis Obispo) I have never taken any sat or act placement tests because I was generally mediocre and unmotivated in high school until I created a change of scenery and mindset for myself. Granted, I don't even know if I can get into these schools, but it doesn't hurt to plan for the future and do you guys think I need to take an SAT/ACT placement test to get into these schools even though I showed that I could handle the rigors of a community college.

Which school has the best program?

I don’t know anything about California colleges or your intended major but I’ve researched schools so I can offer a couple general recommendations.

1 - Research the programs - which ones offer the major closest to what you want to do. If they all offer what you want, which program is the best? The biggest department with the most instructors that are full time vs adjunct and those that do research vs just teach and which ones offer the best career placement, etc.

2 - Visit each campus - You have to like where you are. Which one do you like the best? How about the best student body? Your future best friend and future spouse could be there. A great school with students you don’t mesh with is not as fun.

3 - Cost - One may offer money to you, others may not. Is the school with the worst program offering the most money? Is it worth it to attend there or the best program offering the least money? Hopefully, the best school offers the most money but it rarely works out that way.

Now, go fall in love with a college.

And always have a backup plan in case the college doesn’t love you so much.

One cannot say “I will go to this college!” and simply be aloud to do so. I say apply to all the colleges you are interested in THAN choose between the ones you get accepted by, which by the way, you have a fair chance at all of them with such a good GPA.
