What college/SUNY should I go to?

My Basic Profile:
GPA: 4.0 | GPA (weighted): 4.33

AP English: 5

AP US History: 5

AP World History: 3
SAT (new): 1330 | SAT (old): 1870

I don’t know what I’m going to major in, but I have a great preference towards english, political science and sociology.
-I want a school that will support me in finding a major
-I want a school that isn’t in the middle of nowhere (able to compromise)
-I want to study abroad

I am planning on getting my bachelor’s at a SUNY school. If it works out, I will go to a private university for my associates.
Aside from that, I don’t know what to do, so I would greatly appreciate the help!

Thank you~

Do you mean private for your masters? Associates is a 2 year degree that you’d get before a bachelors.

Most SUNYs are unfortunately in the middle of nowhere because that’s where all the good land was. And you can pretty much find study abroad opportunities at any of them. If you’re not sure what you want to major in, I’d look into some of the larger schools with more options. Albany, maybe? Then you’re also in a bustling city.

University at Buffalo

If you don’t want a SUNY that is in the middle of nowhere I’d suggest SUNY Albany. The programs are strong, large international populations and many strong masters and Ph.D. programs in case you decide to stay. You can go abroad from just about any college or university.

Thank you for the suggestions. SUNY at Albany seems like a good school, but it is known as a party school. I am worried this will interfere with my academic life (I have no interest in partying.) Will it?

SUNY Geneseo will have serious students and woukd be supportive for an English/poli sci student.
Albany would be good for poli sci and to avoid the party crowd apply to the Honors College. Same thing for Bing.
Now it all depends on your stats - what’s your GPA and your SAT/ACT scores?

You can see my stats above

SUNY Albany has all types. I just heard today on the radio that Governor Cuomo is committed to cracking down on alcohol and substances on all SUNY campuses. Remember, the drinking age is 21. Its not like the 1980s any longer . There are rules that are fully enforced. Plus, I’m sure there are dorms dedicated to substance free.

Ok, so you’d have a good shot at Honors Colleges. DO apply to all Honors colleges (and see) as you’ll have better odds being around studious people, especially at Albany.
Do you know your EFC?
Do you need merit aid, financial aid (need-based)?
Run the NPC on St Lawrence, Hobart and William Smith, Dickinson, Muhlenberg, Skidmore, Marist, Connecticut College, Hamilton.
The best for the majors you are interested in would be Dickinson and Hamilton but they’d be reaches (as would be Skidmore).
Hamilton has no distribution requirements do you’d be able to test all the classes that sound interesting and decide on a major.
