What college to apply for?

Correct Phyz, I’m just trying to get my questions out so I can get some help.
In a forum I don’t really care about writing with good grammar so people don’t feel that thay have to tell me my grammar sucks!

My grammar is better than in this forum, but I also know I have to work on it. But I’m taking the SAT in about 5 months, so I think I’ll be fine.

Maybe now we can go back to my questions?

:)

Haha I do have a bit of advice… There’s a featured discussion in the homepage regarding how colleges are cutting back on sports cos of the recession… Make sure your schools don’t cut out soccer since its important to you. Though I doubt a div one college would scrap its soccer team but you can never be too sure

Thank you, I’ll look out for that. :)

I would like some more respones please. Thanks

bollkollboll > Where are you from ?
Have you ever took the SAT before ?

Well, I really felt compelled to say something here. Agreed, this is a public forum and it’s pretty informal.

“international student who are planing to study abroad”
“I think I’m going the get a GPA”
“Please come with suggestions for colleges”
“don’t anyone have any suggestions”

Joiya obviously didn’t mean to criticise bollkollboll for his English here; all he suggested was that bollkollboll needs to work on his grammar, which is pretty obvious from the sentences above. Now, I do not say that Joiya or I are Shakespeares or Literary professors of any sort. Nor do I say that the bollkollboll should in any way take this is an insult. It’s pretty understandable that his standard of English might not be very high since he’s probably doing it as a second language. As for the “informal forum” point- just look at the errors again- are they REALLY just typos and subtle grammatical errors resulting from carelessness? You really think so? I think Joiya gave some good advice there. Bollkollboll, you definitely should work on your English. From what I see, you know the language fairly well- just need to get yourself better acquainted with it. Try watching the BBC, reading English newspapers and books on a regular basis- and I’m sure it’ll help. A good command over the English language would not only help you score well on the SAT- but it is also essential to do well in a US college since all the teaching and testing will be done in English. Phyz- you seem to be contradicting yourself, friend. Typing “English” as “english” is probably an error that can be excused in such informal forums- so if you think it was really smart of you to pick that out, it wasn’t- at least in my opinion. Bollkollboll, I’m sure you’re a fabulous student- the very fact that you’ve come out on these forums and asked a question shows that you care about your future and are in control of yourself. English isn’t necessarily a big deal if you’re staying in your own country (there’re Prime Ministers and Presidents all over the world who can’t speak proper English), but if you plan to go to the US, I really suggest you polish up your English language. You’ll do well. Let’s peace this out here! :)

PS: I’m heading to California this Fall- so you might be REALLY nearby next year, bollkollboll! And Joiya- haha! You’d surely be VERY near! GOOO BRUINS! :D

hi everyone! my name is Tinashe from Zimbabwe and i am about to apply to colleges/universities in the US. MY sat1 scores are 610-critical reading, 610-maths and 650-writing. my sat2 scores are 670-maths, 690-biology and 740-chemistry. my gpa is 3.5. i to study premedicine or anything that will get me into medical school so i am looking for schools that best preapare students for med school and that also offer full need based financial aid to international students. i hope you shall be able to help me with a list of schools that i stand a good chance of being admitted. thank you

Well, my grammar might suck as an result of that I havn’t had English in school this year.
To get that course I had to choose it with my extrapoints. And I only had enough points for Graphic Communication och mathematics: courses I felt were necessary for me. So that sucks… now I have to work on the grammar on my own. :/

Elou24: I’m Swedish
No, I have not taken the SAT. I plan on taking it 2 times this fall. So now I have the whole summer to work on my crappy grammar. :)

What about the SAT II ? Planning on taking it too ?

well, I’m not sure it’s needed for the colleges i’m interested in. Look at the schools mentioned earlier and tell me if you think I sould take it. :)

bump…
