What college would be a best fit for me?

Hi, Im interested to major in a field of engineering, i always liked civil engineering, but I just realized that Mass Maritime offers Naval/Marine engineering, which i like because ive always enjoyed boats and the water. So im trying to decided what school i want to go to, either WPI, Mass Maritime, or Jacobs School of Engineering in San Diego. I also have a low gpa around 3.0 (because i had a 2.12 freshman year and couldnt bring it up very high), I also have a 28 on act’s and on sats i scored 580 on reading, 580 on math, and 470 on writing. Both scores i expect to go up since i’ll be taking the tests again.

What year are you in? What is your home state? How much can your family afford?

Im going into senior year. I live in Massachusetts, and with my family and part time job about $15k a year without loans or scholarships.

You’re engaged in wishful thinking if you believe you can get into one of UCSD’s most competitive schools with that GPA. UCSD also costs over $50,000 a year as does WPI. While Worchester might offer you a scholarship if it admits you (doubtful), it will almost certainly be affordable. Have you considered UMass Lowell?

^ Presumably @whenhen meant “almost certainly NOT be affordable”…
