What College would be right for me?

Hello all,

I am new to the site and was wondering what insights the community could provide as to where I should consider applying. I will be entering my senior year this Sepetember

I am a Michigan resident looking to stay in the midwest.
School of 2300 students, am in the top 50%

29 ACT

U/W GPA 3.12

W GPA 3.22

Last semester U/W GPA 3.45, W GPA 3.6166

Founding member and Chairman of the school's only political club, which is now up to over 35 members and has seen a good amount of success

Started up and am the Chief administrator of my school's Athletics Website which has seen a great deal of success this year

Model U.N. member

Selected as The Student Section Leader for my Senior Year

Several other ECs

White Male

Intended Major: Sports Management

Senior Schedule: will consist of AP Physics, AP U.S. History, Pre-calc, Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Senior Business, and my class where I run the Athletics Website mentioned above.

I switched schools half way through my Freshman year which has had a negative impact on my GPA.

I would like to stay in the midwest unless there is a miracle and I can get a lot of FA to a school somewhere warm.

I am open to any and all suggestions for schools to apply to.

Thank You

How much can your family afford?

Not looking to spend more than $30,000 per year. EFC should be in the neighborhood of 10,000-15,000

With your GPA, price tag and scores there is one school that you will be very happy with. Here it is buddy: [Sport Studies Majors | Guilford College](http://www.guilford.edu/academics/academic-programs/academic-departments/sport-studies/majors/)

Never been there myself, but my nephew went there for interview and loved it for sports management. They offer generous aid awards.

Eastern Michigan.

Thanks guys, keep them coming please.

Michigan State, Indiana U

Eastern Michigan has it as a minor, Central Michigan has “sports studies” as a major, and U. Michigan has it as a major, though it’s unlikely that with your scores you can get into U. Mich.

This is assuming you are interested in the business side, not the mechanics/scientific side of sports?

^ Uh, no. [Program: Sport Management Major - Eastern Michigan University - Acalog ACMS?](http://catalog.emich.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=11&poid=6075&returnto=1549)

yes I am mainly interested in the business side of it.

What are my odds of getting into Indiana?

Why are you asking? That’s more than $10K greater per year than you can afford. [Office of Student Financial Assistance : Cost of Attendance](<a href=“Indiana University Bloomington”>Indiana University Bloomington) It’s particularly too expensive if your EFC is in the $10-15K range.

Because they have a partnership with michigan where students only pay 1.5 times the in state as opposed to the full out of state - from my counselor

Definitely, Michigan State - East Lansing!! And tOSU if OP plans to go OOS. MSU is located in the picturesque college town of E. Lansing which is 2 miles from the state capital; likewise, tOSU is also located about 2 miles from the state capital except in a much larger city of Columbus. With 29 ACT, you are qualified for National Buckeye Scholarship at tOSU. Best of Luck!!! Go State or Go Bucks!! :)

Sparkeye, msu does not have sports management though, right?

^^ I guess not? Perhaps you should try to apply to Michigan instead? Although your GPA is kind of low, but since you are in-state, so who knows, maybe you will get in!!! Or you could just try to obtain your undergrad ‘related’ major at State’s Dept of Kinesiology. Afterwards, Master degree either at Michigan or tOSU. That works, too!! :)

Thanks for the help so far!
