I am looking for a small, PREPPY, college, with a strong Political Sciencee/Government program. I would also prefer the college to lean conservative(I myself am a strong Tea Party conservative) But anything is fine as long is it’s not Ueber-Liberal. Would Trinity be a good fit?
Thanks!
Every college has a History Department, which often include courses in politics and government. Better to think about what kind of school you would be comfortable at. I would start my search at a school with solid courses in ‘Western Civilization.’
Claremont McKenna comes to mind.
What are your stats like? Are you looking for super competitive schools, or less selective ones?
What are your stats? Washington and Lee.
hillsdale college
My stats are pretty good
GPA- 3.6
SAT
CR- 800
W- 700
M- 500
Total -2000
To give you an idea of what kind of schools I’m looking for, here’s a list of schools I’m looking at.(in no particular order)
Gettysburg College
Trinity College
Hampden-Sydney College
Hillsdale College
Patrick Henry College(probably my top choice right now)
You could look at Wheaton College (Illinois), Furman University, and Grove City College.
Kdkhan, Gettsyburg should be right in your wheelhouse. Preppy, very right wing, stronger history department than political science but they do have the Eisenhower Institute… If you are into Greek life I would say this is a great fit for you. Best of luck.
Good suggestions above. I would add Wake Forest.
Hillsdale
Sewanee would meet your criteria, and your stats would give you a strong chance at admission.
St John’s College Annapolis, University of Dallas (NOT UTD), Birmingham-Southern
I don’t think st.johns Annapolis is preppy.
Not preppy in clothes style but it has a Great Books program, is rather conservative, is well-thought of for someone who wants to get into conservative politics, is well-located for that, and seems to follow what OP wants for his “homeschool” experience.
Its downsides are that it’s very small and there’s no major since the entire school is a giant classically-based core curriculum, plus I don’t know how they treat internships.
