uc riverside because the asian parents I know make fun of it :(

That’s your only reason Fellow?

“Unless you attend U North Carolina, it’s always been difficult for me to understand what’s behind the comments about Duke. Is it jealousy?”

Of course it’s jealousy - especially from those who attend UNC-CH! If you knew how awesome Duke is and what an awesome, well-rounded experience you would be missing, without question, you would be jealous too!

And for the record, Duke is NOT “The Harvard of the South”; Harvard is “The Duke of the North” (and yes, there are t-shirts in the bookstore with this saying printed…)

I actually heard many times that Davidson College is the Harvard of the South.

i’ve heard rice is the harvard of the south.

i would never go anywhere south of the mason-dixon line or off the east coast. with the exception of maybe notre dame or a school in chicago.
I would never go to syracuse or any school on long island.
i would never go to any school in new jersey.
i would never go to american
i would never go to any of those tiny LAC’s in the middle of nowhere.

I couldn’t ever attend colleges with weird names, like Harvey Mudd or Kalamazoo. I’m sure they’re respectable, but I can’t help but giggle whenever I see them posted.

Or colleges in random states like Wyoming or Montana or Indiana. No offense, but those states just have no appeal to me whatsoever.

Liberty, Oral Roberts, BJU, and NYU for its lack of financial aid
No state universities either, because I would end up paying a lot less at a reputable LAC. Any colleges without generous financial aid I could not attend hahaha

i would never go to Western New England College.

Hahaha, nice one davematthewsxvii.

Hahaha yeah right, it is hard to be jealous when you are the ones who keep winning. Duke fans have had to watch UNC beat them for four years in a row at Cameron indoor, and win the national championship this year. UNC fans aren’t the ones who are feeling left behind; those people live in Durham.

Rice is the Harvard of the South. Although we don’t technically think of Texas as the South. It’s its own country. Southerners do not consider the Carolinas the South. Anyplace that has mountains and snow is not the South. We think of the South as Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle, anyplace where ignorance prevails. Actually, Tulane was once known as the Harvard of the South, but it is definitely not a Southern school. There are mostly Yankees there. But if you want to ask what school is the most sought after to get into down here, I would say Rice would definitely be it.

I hope to avoid schools in my state (AK), because they are mostly terrible and I don’t much like this place anyway. But I’ll still apply to UAF as an ultimate safety.

Any of the Ivies besides Cornell.

I lived in St. Louis for a year and will never, ever, EVER live there again.

Rose-Hulman in Indiana is too isolated and too homogeneous.

Schools south of Virginia and east of Texas outside of major cities.

Colleges in Texas.

Religious schools.

Colleges without programs in engineering and applied math.

Amherst.

I’d shoot myself. Within a week.

Evergreen State. I’m surprised no one’s said it yet.

Northwestern (at least for undergrad)

I can’t stand that place.

i would never go to unc chapel hill cuz im a major duke fan…id lose my head there

rutgers-any campus. i can understand why kids wouldnt want to go to a college where like 50% of the other kids go.

I would NEVER EVER go to a university with any kind of religious affiliation.

cough Notre Dame
cough BC

You just wrote off almost every respectable non-Ivy private school. They don’t want you anyway. (jk)

^^^^you’re actually right. and the ironic part is that he applied to BC

I am the opposite of dbm4. I would never go to Duke because I hate their basketball team with a passion.

“Hahaha yeah right, it is hard to be jealous when you are the ones who keep winning. Duke fans have had to watch UNC beat them for four years in a row at Cameron indoor, and win the national championship this year.”

Typical response of someone from UNC-CH, as their whole world revolves around basketball. It’s funny that none of you guys were around when UNC-CH posted a 8-20 record a few years ago. Remember that Duke has owned ACC Basketball during the 2000s, as the Blue Devils won 7 out of 10 ACC Tournaments. Not to mention the streaks of 5 in a row (99-03) and 7 of 8 (99-06)…

“UNC fans aren’t the ones who are feeling left behind; those people live in Durham.”

I guess that explains why UNC-CH is not ranked in among the US News Top 25 universities in America and the top 100 universities in the world (btw, Duke is ranked #8 and #13 respectively). I’m sure it also explains why UNC never leads the ACC in the number of “student”-athletes on the ACC Honor Roll (btw, Duke led the ACC for 20 straight years and placed second last year, losing to BC by 1). If UNC-CH felt “left behind”, they would act to improve their rankings! Some people are happy being on the bottom…
