What college would you NEVER go to and why?

@ Schmaltz: New Yorkers rock!! (I’m not biased at all…haha)

Anyway I would never ever go UPenn. I really really don’t like that school. I think its because of the people that go there from my school. They are all very jappy and superficial so that really turns me off to the school since they all seem to want to go there. They also all get in because of legacy/money so that also really annoys me. I know academically it is very good but socially I can’t stand it.

“Keep quoting a useless ranking, thats all you can do.”
Seems like the only thing you have to hold your hat on is the basketball program at UNX. In your eyes, along with the eyes of your fellow members of the Wal-Mart fan nation, UNX is on Duke’s level in all areas. However, outside of the Wal-Mart fan base, no one agrees with you, and the rankings prove that! You know that UNX is not Duke’s level. I guess denial is indeed a river in Egypt…

“I guess at Dook, you really don’t get what you pay for.”
Hilarious! Considering UNX is cheap AND not ranked among the US Top 25 and World Top 100, I guess you really do get what you pay for!

Yep, looks like UNC is a step above Dook. You see, at UNC, you get more bang for your buck-academically, athletically, and socially. Not everyone can be number 1, but it is cute of you to try so hard.

DukeAlumnus,
I’m a fan of the school and have always considered the intelligence level of the student body to be on par with HYPSM.

So, why can’t you come up with anything more clever than quoting a USNWR ranking or some meaningless World Ranking? I would expect something like that from a U Michigan fan, but not from Duke?

I’m disappointed…:(…consult the Cameron Crazies and get back to us.

They were acquitted…

Liberty University - waaaay too strict and I would never be able to memorize all of those rules!

 • Attendance at a dance (6 reps + $35 fine)
 • Attendance at, possession or viewing of, an R, NC-17, or X-rated movie (12 reps + $70 fine)
 • Spending the night with a person of the opposite sex (30 reps + $150 fine)
 • Possession or consuption of alcoholic beverages (30 reps + $150 fine)

I’m sure Pepperdine and BYU have similar rules…

UNC-CH

 • approx 82% of students are from NC
 • all of the students are relatives of Dale Earnhardt
 • the colors are ugly
 • I wouldn’t want an ■■■■■■■■-looking ram as a mascot
 • the campus is ugly and has absolutely no architectural design
 • the girls (I guess they are girls; many look like drag queens and t-girls)are pretty (easy) b/c they are dumb; however, I credit them for being smart enough to know that they have to be pretty (easy) to get by in life. The first thing a Carolina girl does when she wakes up in the morning is roll over and introduce herself!
 • I don’t watch NASCAR
 • it’s not a good school academically (hince not being ranked among the US Top 25 and World Top 100); it’s really nothing more than 4 more years of high school…
 • they accept community college classes and “online classes” as credits
 • the sports game environment there is a dud; they are called the “w(h)ine and cheese” crowd for a reason
 • wouldn’t want to be at a school of 30,000 Duke rejects, who suffer from “Duke Envy”, constantly telling everybody they see: “I got in at Duke, but…” “I could have gone to Duke, but…” “Duke is this…” “Duke is that…” PUHHHLEEEZE!
 • John Edwards and Elizabeth Edwards are alumni, and they are treated like Gods. Both are two big pieces of scum…

DukeAlumnus the UNC stuff was funny, lol!

Hawkette, the proof is in the pudding. You can look at the rankings, the methodology, and the criteria/factors considered in determining the rankings; this eliminates the need to say: “this program is better…” “this school has more…” “this school has a higher…” There’s a reason why the top schools stay on top and why other schools can never crack the rankings. I would suggest you research and interpret the data for your own understanding.

Now I could go on and on about my personal experience and why I believe Duke is awesome; however, I would be just one person speaking in a very subjective manner. Opinions are like *******s - everybody has one. That’s why you have objective forms of measuring schools for ranking.

I would never in a million years go to Princeton. I’d choose any other school in the US over Princeton. Really.

Wrong. That would be pretty cool though.

Wrong.

Wrong. Carolina girls are some of the hottest around, and are MUCH hotter than Dook girls. Seriously, most Dook girls are straight repulsive. How does that song go…“Dook girls-hey I ain’t trying to be mean, but how are you gonna look like a soccer mom at 19?”

Wrong. I don’t know anyone at UNC who watches Nascar. That school is NCSU, 30 miles to the east.

Wrong. UNC is consistently rated as one of the top public universities in the US and has been ranked #1 (yes, #1) best value in the nation for years now. It also produces more Rhodes Scholars than any other public university in the US except for UVA. UNC had 2 Rhodes Scholars this year; Dook had 1. Guess Dook is behind the curve on that one.

Wrong. UNC has a great sports scene, and unlike Dook, we actually win most of the time. The athletic environment at UNC is pretty much unrivaled for schools of its prestige.

I actually agree with you about this. Can’t stand the two, although I feel pretty bad for Elizabeth now that she is dying of cancer.

Wrong. Lots of UNC students actually turned down Dook for UNC, mainly because they didn’t want to shell out $30,000 more per year to hang out at the State University of New Jersey’s Durham Campus. Every UNC student knows how much better of a school UNC is than Dook-UNC has the total package, something that Dook really lacks.

While we are on the subject, here are some reasons why I would never attend Dook-

-It is located in a ghetto
-Its sports teams routinely suck and are constantly owned by UNC
-Can you say “guido beach?”
-Overpriced, you really don’t get what you pay for there
-It has the ugliest girls of any ACC school
-High crime rates
-Overrated by most people
-No college town
-Full of ******bags
-Why camp out for 3 months to see my basketball team lose at home to its arch rival the 4th time in a row?

I’ll stay at Carolina, easily the better school of the two. Carolina has the whole package-Dook just doesn’t.

He can’t. DookAlumnus knows that his argument dies if you look past those meaningless rankings.

I’d never ever go to a LAC, dartmouth, princeton, gw/nyu, drexel, BARNARD, brandeis, duke

LOOOOL that was good. but i thought duke was modeled after yale, not princeton. (??) stil good anyway lol

Ahh I must say… one thing that bothers me while reading this thread is when people spell duke “dook”. Not because I’m for duke or anything. I just have problems when people think they’re clever for spelling things phonetically (example someone had a don’t be mis-lead sign when protesting against lead poisoning…)

Haha sorry, I love all the posts, but that is just one of those things… :P

And since I hate to post and not actually contribute, I’d never attend Columbia for undergrad. The core is not a concept I like.

I’m not gonna list out random colleges that nobody has heard of but out of the schools that most people on CC have heard of, I would never go to the following:

University Of North Dakota
Case Western Reserve University
University Of Maryland – College Park
The University Of South Dakota

No, I hope you don’t think that.

In the environment I was raised in, I would’ve picked to go to a CC and then transfer over UCR. My parents also said they won’t pay for it. I’m also a non-resident.

Wow pierre0913, you really thought this through, didn’t you?

As for me, I would never go to:

NYU
caltech, or any other math/engineering school
GWU
schools where the athletics overshadow the academics, 'cause I’m nerdy like that.

why the GWU hate? (besides the price)

well, price is a big part of it…

UCI. My cousin went it. Chinese everywhere. No need to speak English all day if I don’t want to. As an international student, I want more diversity.
