What colleges are right for me?

Junior here wondering what colleges I have a decent shot at for next year and what colleges that may fit me that I should strive to get into. Any help would be appreciated.

Female
Central Florida
White, Jewish

Rank: ~50/500 (just under top ten percent)
SAT: 580/620/610 (1200/1810)
ACT: 25
This year I am taking two AP classes and I think I will take three next year.
All of my other classes, except math, are honors. I get mostly B's.

I have 2 leadership positions in clubs that I have been in for four years, three other memberships, a ton of service hours (400+), and good recommendation letters, though I don't have any significant awards.

My writing has never been that superb, but my teachers agree that my essay has voice. (and that's what counts, right?)

I am interested in artsy kinds of things, but I don't want to starve, so maybe Journalism or advertising to apply my skills.

I want a school that is close to a major city (think NYC, Boston, etc.) and I don't care about size. I am not an athlete and I don't follow sports, so I don't want the social life to focus on the football team.

SUNY New Paltz
Emerson
SUNY Purchase
Hofstra University
Towson University
UMass

Emerson is great. But you have to be 100% sure about going into the media field.

Fordham is good. Also try American University in DC - their communications and journalism programs are great.

Lake Forest College outside Chicago is one you should definitely consider.
Ursinas outside of Philly is truly up and coming.

^^ I agree, but it's spelled "Ursinus."

Ursinus is also listed in Loren Pope's "Colleges that Change Lives"

Stetson, Florida State, Central Florida, South Florida. Miami in a bit of a reach. Stay in Florida and save money.

whoa, its scary how close my sat scores are to urs, like -10 off of 620 and then thats my exact score.

I recommend Emerson as well, but like it says before, Emerson is very communications related and you really need to be sure you want this field if you go there, but if you do decide thats what you want Emerson has great programs

Brandeis--but it is a reach

Good luck with your search! :)

Syracuse, perhaps.

miami, tulane, fordham, boston u, drexel, u of sf

Northeastern University, Boston, MA
