What kind of things are you looking for in a school? Please elaborate and be more specific.

Do you like liberal arts colleges? How would you define small/medium? Public or private universities? Urban/suburban/rural setting? Does school spirit/sports scene matter to you? How about Greek life? Do you know what you want to study yet?

I'm definitely leaning liberal arts, and preferably in more suburban area, but I'm not too picky about that. I'm a hiking fan, so access to the outdoors/ mountains would be great. Ideally I want to do a 3-2 where'd I'd major in environmental studies or sciences (but possibly chem, I'm not really all that sure), and then do two years at columbia or wash u or another school and get an bachelors in engineering. I don't want a big greek scene, and I would probably like to play club sports, but maybe DIII.

Vassar College (second in acceptance of gays only to NYU), Wesleyan College (uber-liberal PC), Middlebury College (outdoorsy, athletic, tons of mountains), Hamilton (has 3:2 with Columbia, Open Curriculum).

McPucks, some to possibly look at are Reed (OR), Oberlin(OH), Macalester and Carleton(MN) and Lawrence(WI). Best of luck!

Actually, kwu would be referring to Wesleyan University; Wesleyan College is a women's school in Georgia.

Pomona College. Near the San Gabriel Mountains. It's about 30 min from LA though -- don't know how close you want the urban area to be.

Vassar College has a 3-2 engineering program with Dartmouth, and Haverford has a 3-2 engineering with CalTech or cross-register with Swarthmore.

Both Vassar and Haverford fit what you're looking for (I think you'll find more athletes/athletic people at Haverford), and I seem to remember that Haverford has a polo team.

Wesleyan might also be worth looking into.

And if you love the outdoors, Colorado College.

I think you'll find that almost any non-religious college is gay-friendly, but the Advocate's has a college guide that might be worth checking out at the bookstore:

Macalester and Carleton.

I think UWashington's location, liberal-ish political bend, and really cool Q Center make it a good safety.

That's pretty much why I applied there.

Though, I have to admit, it's pretty big, which may be a turn-off for you (The CollegeBoard says ~ 28k undergrads.)

Believe it or not, but I think you might like places like Dartmouth, Middlebury, and Amherst. Pretty sizable gay women scene, athletic, lots of outdoor activity, and casual-fun non judgmental environments.

I think Dartmouth is def. a good gay school to attend

^lol^ ...

Maybe not Amherst, it has a reputation for being athletic.
Williams is athletic as well, but it has a strong performing arts program.

And, I did mean Wesleyan University.

Smith College

DEF Wesleyan, if you would consider all girls maybe smith/mt holyoke/wellesley.
And definitely check out Macalester! It's alot like Wesleyan, although it's more cityish than youre prob looking for its in a cool neighborhood and you have access to everything the twin cities has to offer, lots of other colleges around too.

thank you, I'm going to look into all of these.
