What colleges can I get into?

I'm an international student from Finland and my biggest dream has always been to move to the US for college. Now that that point is nearing - after 10 years of waiting - I find myself a bit overwhelmed. Hence I'd greatly appreciate any pointers you could give me in regard to universities!

I am a senior at Finland's best high school, where I study in the International Baccalaureate (IB) section. It is very selective and only 25 people are admitted yearly. For this reason, there's no class rank.

Academics

I returned for junior year's spring to Finland from Bosnia, where I studied at an international college to which I got a scholarship. I only spent half a year there, instead of the two planned, since it wasn't what I'd hoped for.

GPA - My low point. I have 32/40 IB points, which translates into a B average. I think I can bring this up to 37 during the senior fall, however, and I also think I can get at least 2 extra points for my Extended Essay. All in all, I hope to get 39/42 points as predicted.

My low GPA now is mostly due to the fact that I had insane amounts of catching up to do since I came back. I also had to take on a whole new subject.

SAT - I just did these for the first time in June: CR 570, M 570, W 660 (1800). I'll definitely raise writing to 700, since this time I blew the essay, but I'm not sure if the others will go up as much when I retake in October.

Extra-Curriculars

These are definitely my strong point.

I've street-danced for 10 years -- I have 3 silver medals from nationals and also an 8th place from the European Championships. I led my own dance team for half a year when I was in Bosnia.

I'm a writer and my articles have been published in many Finnish newspapers and magazines. My first story was published in the biggest newspaper of Finland at the age of 13.

I've done a bit of debating and MUN. I've attended Model United Nations conferences in Helsinki and Geneva, Switzerland.

I'm a volunteer for UNICEF and I helped out at a refugee camp back in Bosnia.

There's been a 15-minute documentary of me on national TV.

University Plans

I'd love to study business in an urban setting.

Nothing from anyone?

Are Ivies impossible for me?

How can you have 32/40 IB points? Isn’t it out of 42 without bonus or 45 with bonus?

Sorry, my bad. I meant 32/42 of course.

And I mean I could get a predicted 39/45 in the end (not 39/42). I live and breath these IB scores but still can’t get them right? lol

Well, for Ivy admissions, a safer IB score would be 40+ out of 45. At least, that was the recommended score for us Singaporean IB students. Get that predicted score if you can, but you should also work on improving your SAT score. As it stands, that score won’t get you into top colleges.

You will definitely need to seriously improve the SAT’s for top 20 schools. Not just writing, but the Math and Reading, as they are more heavily weighted.

Consider the TOEFL? I hear it is easier for internationals.

The ECs are very legit (being a national celebrity and all) but that SAT alone could damage everything.

I don’t think you can get into any top 50 schools in US. Best of luck.
