What colleges could I make?

So what types of colleges do you think I could make?

Academics

Asian Male, to-be Senior, Small public high school in MA (class of roughly 110)

School sends 5-10 or so graduates to colleges such as Swarthmore, Williams, Ivies etc. each year
-top 10% (class ranks aren't given out)
-unweighted GPA 3.77 (grades have been steadily improving since 9th ;) )
-classes: all APs/Honors. I have only taken 2 APs (bio, statistics) since our school doesn't offer them till junior and senior year. The two APs I took in junior were classes/subjects that I had to double up in 9th + 10th to get "ahead of the track". School has a total of 9 APs or so (and all of them are senior year unless you get "ahead of the track" for sciences and math)

In senior year, I plan to take AP physics, AP chem, AP french, AP calculus, honors english

APs- Biology 5 , Statistics 4
SATIs- 720 Critical Reading, 700 Math, 720 Writing (planning to retake again)
ACT- (planning to take)
SATIIs - 730 Bio M, 690 Chem (planning to take Math II, French)

EC's

-Band (throughout high school) - 1st/2nd chair
-Varsity Cross Country (4 years- captain 12th grade)
-Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track (4 years)
-Science Fair (9th and 11th grade - won an award from the local pond for a project on it)
-Lifesmarts, an economics competition sponsored by the Federal Reserve, our team got 2nd at states
-Varsity Math Team
-Academic Bowl
-National Honors Society (10th to 12th)
-Helped at Hershey's Track (introduces track to youngsters)
-Peer Tutor (10th, 11th grade)

Awards

Placed in top 10% for National French Exam
Science Fair award from local pond

Community Service

Started a "Shovel for Seniors" project during the winter (10+ hours)
Other various community service work such as staffing school dances, local fair, local dump (30+)
Going to start a chess club for elementary school kids (30+)

Recommendations

2 good ones from my biology teacher (head of the science department) and economics teacher

I'm looking towards Ivies, Johns Hopkins (probably not BME, will try though) etc.

I forgot to mention that my public school is considered by many colleges as more of a private school

The Ivys are going to be pretty big reaches, but they are reaches for just about anyone. Either way, each Ivy-League school is different so which ones are you looking at specificially? Brown, Harvard, and Cornell, for example all look for different things in an applicant.

Johns Hopkins is also a reach. Nothing impossible, but this school is really competitive. Just make sure you write excellent essays and really show your passion.

Other schools you might want to consider: NYU, Tufts, BU, Carnegie Mellon, BC, UNC, UVA, and maybe even some of the UCs.

I think I am going to apply to Harvard for fun (I really don’t expect getting accepted), but I’m thinking about Cornell very seriously. It’s one of the “lower” Ivies? Do you think I have more of a chance getting there?

What should I work on specifically? (GPA is a bit too late)

Yes, Cornell is considered one of the easier Ivys to get into. Although it’s still a reach, you probably have a much better chance of getting in than Harvard of course.

If you bring up your SAT scores to a 2200+ that would help. Really the main thing is that there isn’t much of a wow-factor in your ECs. They are really good, no doubt about that, but for the schools you are looking at, they are nothing special.

bump!--------------

bump!1111111111111

okay, here’s what i think (btw u have similar stats to me and i’m a rising senior also, so idk if my opinion really matters)

JHU - reach for RD and high reach ED BME, high match/low reach ED (not BME)
Harvard,Yale,Princeton,Brown, Columbia, - very high reach (0-10% chance)
UPenn, Cornell, Dartmouth- reach (as is for everybody else)

I’m gonna assume these aren’t ur only colleges (that would be a bad idea)

CMU, NYU, Tufts, UMich, UNC, UVa - definately get accepted into 2/3 of these

i’d appreciate a chance back

I think the Ivies will be tough. I think places JHU, Rice, and WashU should be good reaches and places like Emory, Vanderbilt, UVA, Umich, and Tufts as more target reaches/ slight reaches.

bump!!!

!

wow people like to post here  bump!

Might want to add Holy Cross-strong in the science field and easier to get into than the Ivies and Hopkins.

Aside from the Ivies, you should also look at the best schools in the Boston metropolitan area including Tufts, Boston College, Holy Cross, and Brandeis. These schools are all highly ranked by US New & World Report.

bump again!

definately need more safeties; they all look like pretty high reaches for you, especially since you really havent taken that many ap classes and your school is quite small.
