I Probably would have gone to Cal, LA or SD (my first choice) if I got in. But, after looking at Davis and the opportunities, flexibility, environment, and people there I came to like it very much.

Turned down Cal, UCLA w/ Regents, USC, UCSD, UCSB w/ Regents, and UCI :3

A lot of people seem to have done the same thing. I think the nicest part was that my parents were very accepting of it…in fact, they said given the choice, they would have chosen Davis themselves for the proximity (I’m Asian lol)

I think there are so many reasons to choose Davis, and it’s probably why the university is becoming increasingly selective every year.

I have a weird feeling that if Davis were located on the coast it would be more popular. One of the great things about Davis is that its location away from the coast (and urban development) allows it to get bigger and bigger.

wow maylix that’s amazing, rejecting all those schools. Could you give me a reason why you turned down those schools for Davis? I’m just curious :]

i agree with flwrgrl. everyone looks as davis as the school with nothing to do cause its in the middle of nowhere… and then they don’t want to go there… but hm… I like it there (=

^I wonder where people get that idea…I love Davis! Hahaha. But then I also come from a small town with cows…

FlyTowardsTheSun - Lol yeah but it seems like a lot of people did! I think the main reason is because there’s a lot more to consider than prestige in choosing an undergraduate school and for my major and career plans, Davis is the best fit. Someone on the first page put it perfectly that we worked hard to have the options to be able to choose where we want to go. :3

so true maylix :] although i always feel a tinge of sadness whenever i see someone from my school going to berkeley since i know i could be there too. but once i’m at davis, i doubt i’ll ever look back x]

Lol yeah there’s only two people from my school going to LA…which is the other school I was considering. I don’t think Cal ever appealed to me hehe. But of course not! Davis is an amazing school : D

What’s your major at Davis? Are you doing ISHP/DHC?

Yea before Cal Day, I wasn’t even considering Cal either hahah
I’m doing Bio at Davis, possibly do the pre-med route, and yup I’m in the ISHP as an incoming freshmen.
I’m assuming you are in it also? considering you got into Cal/LA :P

All of you who turned down UCLA and/or UC Berkeley for UC Davis made pretty bad decisions. UC Davis really is not that great of a school, in honestly not that great of an area.

Well there are many reasons for choosing UC Davis over Berkeley. If one plans to attend grad school, for example, it would be a good idea to choose Davis because it is pretty certain that one can earn better grades there.

Also, UCD’s environment/area is arguably better than UCLA’s and especially Cal’s environment.

only berkeley, UCSD, and davis. the way i see it, why apply to privates when you can get as good as/a better education at a UC for 20 grand less

my dad went to davis and we go to their picnic day every year and i like it there

i got rejected from berkeley and got into UCSD, but had to go in as “life sciences undeclared” since there were too many people. but i was ELC in my high school (#10 out of 700+ students) so i got assured my major

chose exercise biology because i want to get into the health field, looking at physical therapy because it interests me and its one of the strongest jobs for the future. it also is a cornerstone of the biology department as ive been told by which i mean its easy to change majors if necessary to another biology thing

^I don’t know about UCLA, but I would have picked Davis over Berkeley and I narrowly picked UCSD over Davis. You can ignore those people and be happy where you’re going because it’s your 4 years of your life you’re spending, not theirs.
