I’m taking my sat again to hopefully get a higher score.

My grades are doing good so far for this quarter.Does my first semester of senior year count for colleges? If I got a 3-4.0 for this quater and first semester of school next year what would my gpa raise to. For now what colleges do I have a chance to going(I wanna go to fgcu or fiu), or do I have to go to a community college?

See the attached list (for Florida Public Universities). This shows the average GPA ranges for admitted students to the Florida public universities. Some students do get in with GPA’s a bit below these ranges.

It’s good that you’re showing improvement, and if you apply later, some of these schools will take into account your first semester senior year (those Florida Publics that use rolling admissions).

However, at the end of the day, your GPA may still be a bit low. If it is, then go the CC route (about 1/4 to 1/3 of Florida undergrads go to a local CC and then transfer as juniors to one of the 12 public Universities (13 now with Florida Poly).

You can also look at some of the less selective private colleges in Florida, but those can be expensive.

Good Luck!

Thanks but do you think i have a chance at go to Florida Atlantic University if i raise my gpa up to a 2.9 by the end of the first semester of my senior year?

FAU uses rolling admissions, so you could apply after Jan 1 and then send in your transcripts to include the first 1/2 of your senior year. I would contact FAU admissions to make sure how to make that work. If it’s possible to apply earlier (in the fall) and then send an updated version of your transcripts after Jan 1, that may be the better plan.

At a 2.9 GPA, you have a shot and you should apply, but the school is still a bit of a reach. You should also take a look at FGCU, FAMU and maybe UWF.

Don’t rule out going to a CC. If you finish an AA with decent grades, you will have a good chance of being able to transfer to any public university in the state, depending on the program.
