What colleges do you think have the most school spirit?

“Duke’s football program needs some work, however.”

Unlike Free $hoes University, Duke can’t recruit crimiNOLES to attend and play for Duke…

Off the top of my head:

University of Texas, Texas A&M, University of Florida, USC, UCLA, University of Alabama, UNC, Duke, FSU, UGA, Notre Dame, University of Nebraska, University of Kansas, Auburn, Ohio State, Michigan, University of Wisconsin.

Sigh.

Once again a Dookie who has no idea what he is talking about. UNC won USA Today’s Academic All-American bracket, and won the NCAA national championship this year (our 6th, 3 more than Dook has). Dook won the ACC tournament, congrats. We expect more at UNC-national titles, not just ACC ones.

Just another bitter Dookie, angry that his school can’t hold a candle to its rival 8 miles down the road. That’s alright, Dookie, you only wasted about $160,000 on your subpar college experience.

Trash football talk from a Dukie? Haha. Good one. :)

“You obviously have a “stake” in the Duke-UNC rivalry. I’m guessing it’s pure jealousy and bitterness, because Duke, probably your dream school, rejected you. Don’t feel bad; it happens to thousands of kids every year!”

Typical Dukie response! Napoleonic complex deluxe!!

FWIW, it’s kind of hard for me to get rejected if I never even applied. Call me crazy, but I had no intentions of going to a slave-state school.

Actually, if you were to do a little detective work, you’d have figured out that I attend an HYPSM school. So your bold assertions of academic superiority were quite amusing to me, to say the least.

P.S. Duke is NOT a dream school. Dream schools are 1st choice schools. And 1st choice schools don’t have embarassingly low (~40%) yield rates.

“Duke University led the ACC with most student-athletes (418) on the ACC Honor Roll. This is the 21st time in the past 22 years that Duke has earned this honor. These student-athletes must be pretty smart and qualified if they can earn a 3.0 gpa at a school that’s ranked among the top 10 universities in the country and among the top 15 in the world.”

Explain to me why you’re bragging about this “ACC Academic Honor Roll” again?

The fact that Duke athletes make this “honor roll” is utterly and completely meaningless. It’s entirely possible, and more than likely, that Duke athletes just take easy majors or that Duke has ridiculous grade inflation. If a lot of Duke bball players, many of whom have sub-900 SAT scores, can carry a 3.0, then this suggests that the Duke curriculum must be a complete joke. You must be so proud!

Last time I checked, we got rid of our slaves about a century and a half ago.

Correction: a former slave-state school.

So you would never go to Oxford? Cambridge?

Last time I checked, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, heck even Massachusetts had slaves, too.

That was 150 years ago. Get over it.

History lesson time from Wikipedia:

“The Emancipation Proclamation was criticized at the time for freeing only the slaves over which the Union had no power.”

“Additionally, the Proclamation provided a legal framework for the emancipation of nearly all four million slaves as the Union armies advanced, and committed the Union to ending slavery, which was a controversial decision even in the North. The proclamation did not name the border states of Kentucky, Missouri, Maryland, or Delaware, which had never declared a secession, and so it did not free any slaves there. The state of Tennessee had already mostly returned to Union control, so it also was not named and was exempted. Virginia was named, but exemptions were specified for the 48 counties that were in the process of forming West Virginia, as well as seven other named counties and two cities. Also specifically exempted were New Orleans and thirteen named parishes of Louisiana, all of which were also already mostly under Federal control at the time of the Proclamation.”

notre dame, mich, duke (disgustingly so), usc (pretty egregious here too), and georgetown

Holier-than-thou attitude from a Dookie? Color me shocked…

Duke. Hands down.

Duke is a joke. Hands down.

+1

Or, at least Duke athletics are a joke. Hands down.

Its always Duke vs the world. Sign

Well, good thing Matt Doherty is no longer coaching for us, eh?

Oh, and last time I checked, 6 is greater than 3. We also have more wins than you do.

And re: your “recruits”, don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

Oh and last I checked, UNC was pretty dominant in basketball up until Matt Doherty’s tenure (dating back to at least the 1950’s). We had a hiccup with Doherty, but now we’re an elite basketball program again. UNC still holds the longest streak of consecutive NCAA tournament appearances (27 from 1975-2001).

Oh, and you guys don’t have a true point guard. That tends to put a damper in just about any basketball team.

PS. Judging by recent years (ie 2007 and 2008), you guys would know a little bit about early exits, hm?

PPS. When Ed Davis leaves after this year, we will rely on our #2 ranked recruiting class of 2009.

Yes it does.

Laugh.

He might be voted as the creepiest looking white basketball player of the year…

Jon Scheyer’s game is based around shooting jumpshots, intentionally bumping into the defenders whenever there’s one near to draw fouls.

Who?

Oh really? Duke only “dominated” UNC between 2001-2004 in the modern era. And that’s when UNC wasn’t very good, whereas UNC has been dominating Duke the last 4 years, when supposedly Duke was not much worse than UNC.

Have you been living under a rock for the past few years? UNC>Duke. Lets talk about most overall wins, ALL TIME: UNC destroys Duke. National Championships: UNC has twice as many as Duke. Last four years in Cameron Indoor? There is a reason it has been renamed to Hansbrough Indoor. Face it, Duke never has been and never will be able to compete with UNC on the basketball court. UNC is just the better program.

Lose twice? Where does that sound familiar? Ah yeah, that’s right, Duke lost to us twice this year. How does it feel to camp out for 3 months straight, every year, for four years to see your team lost to the Heels every single time? Must have sucked to have been a Dook senior this year.

Return to dominance? There is no need to “return” to anything-we are dominant, and have been for some time now. Even your fellow Dookie Jay Bilas knows this-that’s why he picked the 'Heels to come out on top of the ACC this year.
